Older AMF Nimble 3 speed. I found this on Craigslist, and really has the potential look for a tracker. Opinions and tips anybody?

The AMF has 26 x 1/8 tires. I used that size wheel successfully on my motor bike for a while. The drawback to that wheel is that you can only run 26 x 1 3/8 sized tires. The common mountain bike tires like 26x2, 26x1.75 and 26x2.3 have a smaller bead diameter and will not fit those 26x1 3/8 rims. I found that out the hard way. Broke a lot of tire levers in the process.
 
Deff worth knowing wheelbender(with an oddly suiting name). I'm gonna try to get it going 35 with a Chinese 80, gonna need some bigger tires.
 
Kinda thinking about this look guys. I feel like i could fabricate what i need. I put the floor pans in a Thunderbird before, so maybe welding this wouldn't be to hard.
 
If you do some digging you can find 3speeds with wider rims. I am doing the same thingand thats what I have. Or they made wide 10 speed rims also............Curt
 
I swapped the 26x1 3/8 S8 wheels on my schwinn to standard 26’s. it worked out okay, but the pedals are now closer to the ground, gotta watch that on turns. Also, the wheels on my bike were that super rare schwinn size. On that bike you may have the EA3 tire size which has many more options tire wise. In fact the resurgence of the 3 speed in popularity seems to be bringing more tire options.
