Headlight projects speed

That's pretty neat! I notice he's using a Raspberry Pi to make it work. That makes me proud, as I've been considering hacking one into a real bicycle computer.

Much cheaper than a smartphone and potentially more capable :D

Fun project for the guy but really expensive dumb, I'll take a nice big analog speedo any day ;-}

It's a really cool answer to a question nobody ask. Not going to do much in the daytime huh. Still the neat-o factor is pretty high.

Hey, maybe you could interface it with a DVD player and watch movies while you're riding. Couldn't be any more distraction than cell phones. :)

Hahaha, nice one Tom, that's all we need is distracted bicyclists riding in distracted car driver traffic.

definite potential here looks like the technolgy needs to catch up a little but i wouldnt mind one maybe if they got realy fancy they could tie in gps somehow so it would project your route .

Sounds expensive. I'll just keep using my GPS speedo app for my smart phone. Free download from Google store. Hard to beat free.

Just make a wind screen and project the speed and rout onto that. Thatway you can still use a normal headlight and still see where your going.
That would be what's called HUD. Heads Up Display. Old technology used in fighters as far back as the 60s. I think Cadillac, or another GM car featured HUD a few years ago. The concept makes perfect sense. It would be cool on a motorbike, no doubt.
The next step would be for the display to be in your goggles. :)
