Has anyone used a water bottle like this for a tank?

These can be had for about 3 dollars. The interesting part is the thread on cap- vent the cap somehow and I think this might make a great little tank that weighs NOTHING. Theres also alloy Handlebar bottle cages on ebay for $1.50.
Whole setup under five bucks!

I think I may try to drill the bottom and thread in a petcock- is there a gas proof sealant out there for the threads?

The bottles also come in 500ml besides this 750 (3/4 liter) one

Now if they'd just give us a clutchable 33cc china girl I could slap it on a vintage Schwinn with 700 wheels and fast 28 mm narrow tires. A 35 pound bike with afterburners that peddles like a road bike!

If you haven't seen these- they are fairly lightweight- much lighter than a comparable steel wald folding basket and cheaper two- a couple of these on an alloy rack- held with plastic zip ties if you want make a lightweight saddlebag basket

I bought one years back at a goodwill store for less than $1. It has a silicone seal around the cap, so it's fuel resistant. I use it for carrying extra fuel, because I always forget to look in my tank before riding off. That's mostly due to the fact that I fill up so rarely with my 48cc.

Anyway, it works great. It's compact, light, and doesn't leak.

Years ago, they only sold 2-liter peanut tanks. I was running twin Mitsubishis on my girlie cruiser bike. On long trips, I had to carry extra fuel. I fit one of those longer fuel containers. in my bottle cage. Even after I installed a 4-liter tank, I still had that fuel bottle in the cage.

I usually bring food while trail riding. Also one or two of those extra fuel (MSR aprox 1 qt) to refill on longer ride. The food is good to eat and rest and let engine cool. I have fair amount of concern to refuel while engine is very hot.

I use one for remote start up. Even made a holder out of 3"" abs cut a lil more than in half, and it snaps into. And good ole jb weld to attach petcock.

I just bought a similar stainless .750l bottle and holder yesterday for my little trimmer FD. I think it only holds an hours worth of fuel in its original tank. Not leaving home with out a reserve.

You can't even make it around a block with that small bottle! ME, I'm always paranoid of running out of fuel so I always top off the fuel tank and carry extra gasoline in my backpack before going out..... and for you to think about running that little thing on your bike? BLASPHEMY!!!

Actually that bottle would fill an empty 1.5L tank almost all the way. And that g43 was great on gas! I only ran out of gas once as i turned on to my street, coasted into the garage lol.
