I helped a friend who couldn't get their bike running and became interested in building a bike for myself. I picked up a Schwinn Del Mar and thought it would be cool to put a springer front end on it. I bought a China Girl engine from ebay and tore it apart. It was fairly well-built, but the hardware seemed cheap so I replaced it. I got an aluminum intake manifold, ported it out, drilled and tapped it for 1/8" pipe. I installed a 3/16 hose fitting for the boost bottle which is made out of PVC. Then, I opened up the exhaust port on the pipe. Also, I made a spring loaded chain tensioner and covered the muffler with header wrap. It's still a project in the works. The bike runs pretty well and I appreciate all the info posted here.

Welcome, sounds like you are on the right track on the upgrades. The del-mar below turned out well for a friend of mine, you may want to upgrade the fender mounting brackets because both front and rear broke on his.

Thanks guys, I actually was thinking on rebracing the fenders. I also made a spring loaded chain tensioner that works real nice.

very cool tensioner,very sim to the one im workin on.only real dif is my spring attaches to the bike frame...but very cool.
