Different engine mount

Tried that many years ago now when I built a trike from a Suzuki stepthru scooter and an Austin rear axle. Worked ok too, but having the engine mounted sideways took a few sketches on the back of an envelope and a lot of head scratching to get right.
Sorry no pictures have survived to show you what it looked like.
 
I always thought it would be a handy little tractor unit, with a gearbox on the engine and then a 2 stage reduction to the back wheels.

It's a shame you're in NZ, I have a friend with a chain drive axle, we think Bajaj or something similar. There's no identification on it.

LOL That was awesome. A motorized cherry picker!

If you hung a engine on the cherry picker you could say "Yo Dog, I heard you like engines!"
