carb and throttle cable compatibility

What's the story on interchanging carburetors and throttle cables? I have a CNS V2 that I'm going to need to replace. Will I need a new cable? Do carbs usually come with a cable?

I run a cns2 and have tried a nt on my bike using the same cable, mine worked with both carbs.
 
same as Greg, I run a cns and have swapped to an NT... sometimes. :-)

It seems the NT uses a shorter cable inner, and I must turn my adjustment all the way out to get full throttle when I put the NT on the mab.
kinda wish I had just a tad more cable adjustment...
