I got the 2 stroke 80cc. New motor. Some good oil brands I can use? Hope this isn’t a duplicate post. Are there some good ones I can get at places like Autozone? Thanks in advance.
Ok. That brings up another question... I hear about all these different oil mixing ratios for new engine break in so I’m not sure who’s right when it comes to the 80cc 2 stroke. What ratio should I use for break in?Rusty the oil you use should be for air cooled engines, I think it depends on what's available near you. I have had good luck with Lucas semi synthetic mixed at 32/1. Oils for chain saws are usually good as well.
How long should my break in period be? Hours? or gallons? Most of the data that comes with the kit is reprinted over and over, some of the newer kits now recommend 25/1 for break in. The 16/1 was the standard many years ago, back then a lot of people used 30w engine oil to mix.
Thanks for the advice bro. Appreciate it. Want to make sure the motor lasts as long as possible. How long should my break in period be? Hours? or gallons?
LOL, back in my days, like you said 30W oil was all there was, no 2 stroke oil till latter. And the old 1/2 cup to gal. stuck for many years..Think that's way the stuck with the 16 to 1 on the china engines, still a lot of old engines being used over there, also. Yes 32/1 after break-in at least, i don't have china engine, but chain saw and all run 40/1 Sthil oil. ...........CurtMost of the data that comes with the kit is reprinted over and over, some of the newer kits now recommend 25/1 for break in. every body has their formula but i would use what the manufacture suggests just in case. I use 20/1 regulars 2stroke oil for break in then i use 40/1 with pure synthetic 2stroke oil i always run 87 octane or regular gas[/QUOTE
