Personally I wouldn't use the kit. It's overpriced considering how much of it you have to throw out and replace to have a decent bike. You're better off building it from scratch.
I am curious as to what parts you throw out or substitute. Here is a list of what is in the Gas Bike Kit. Thanks

78.5cc - 79cc 3HP*OHV GasBike Horizontal Shaft Gas Engine*
Transmission for 78.5cc - 79cc OHV GasBike Horizontal Shaft*Engines
Heavy Duty Bicycle Mounting Kit for*78.5cc - 79cc*or*212cc OHV Predator Horizontal Shaft*Engines
Throttle Handle
Throttle Cable - 50"
41 Tooth Sprocket
Pineapple Bushing Kit
415 Heavy Duty Chain
Idler Pullet Chain Tensioner with 2 Bolts
Throttle Linkage
Angle Mesh Filter
Air Filter Adapter*
Chain Guard*

The transmission will probably require different gear ratio to perform well. The mounting plate is meh. The gas tank and exhaust will need replacing. The pineapple sprocket adapter, and the sprocket that comes with it, is a piece of ****. The chain is often low quality. The chain tensioner is crappy. If you have to change the gear ratio, you will need more #35 chain. I also never liked the stock throttle grips in the bike kits. Basically, I would replace almost everything but the engine, and at that point, I may as well just buy the engine and parts separately.

The kit cost $249 on eBay from Gas Bike with free shipping this includes the engine etc. Ordering the parts individually with the engine are $393. The savings will pay for the wide pedal crank conversion, and a brake kit for the front wheel.

Fixed that for ya.
I did it for less than $390 with all of that. I did not need wide cranks, I'm using pedal extenders though. I made a lot of parts saving about $100+.

The kit costs $249. No time spent looking for all of the parts, no time building parts, even being retired I still consider my time valuable. If you spend an extra 40 hours to get it running without a kit, at minimum wage you invested $300 in your time. Whether you like it or not, your time is economic investment in your bike. It also depends on your priorities, I would rather be fishing or out camping than spending hours in a shop putting together a bike to ride around a campground or the home neighborhood.

With a kit a person can be riding within a few days of the kit's arrival or they can be spending a lot of time making parts, looking for bargains and in the shop putting it all together.

You're not counting the time and money it takes to replace those crappy parts as they break and let you down. At the same time, there's not too many bad parts but it will still take extra parts to get a usable bike.
Sorry OP, there's divided opinions on this forum. Go with what you want.

The 79cc is not really more quiet than the China girl.

Making parts, and spending so much time is what I love doing. It's a hobby, not a compulsive buy joy-toy.

I just have to smile (in a sad way) for the suckers the likes of GasBike hook in to make money.

You can 'save' all the money you want on a box of ****, but it's still a box of ****.

For that same 250 with a bike already in possession, I can build a 212cc bike. The predator is 119, the clutch I have found on eBay for as low as 14, the chain I found for 15-25, a throttle handle for 15, a sprocket for 20, a pineapple bushing (yes I do use them, because tightened down all the way, they work very well) for 10, an analog speedometer for 15, and a dual brake lever for 12. For an extra 30, I can have a headlight that is equivalent to a car's high beam. Now keep in mind that all these are budget items, and may not always be of good quality, as these days QC sucks. I'm planning on buying the kit just so I have a bike to ride, honestly. It's easy, quick, and I know how to mix and match, so I will buy the bike after the kit comes in. However, if you need a torque monster, or you just need damn good speeds, then di the DIY 212cc build.

Hey, anyone know how to make a manual clutch for these 4-strokers?

I couldn't help but laugh at gasbikes current 'example' 4-sroke build...

It's a gas tank frame and they didn't use it!

Well, they have one that can actually be used, I may buy that frame and transfer all parts to it, and they have one that needs holes plugged for some reason or other. That may be the one needing plugged holes, and if that's the case, then that's why they didn't use it.

They assembled it showing the option of the rear tank, disassembled it all and put it back on the shelf to sell. Strictly used as a photo shoot for the options that they have available.

I buy my engines and frames here.
http://www.bicycle-engines.com/Frames/

They carry the good parts gasbike can't even buy because of their rampant knock-off garbage using the same part numbers as a the good real stuff.

Holes in the gas tank that need plugging...
I'm not the least bit surprised.

What parts would you buy and from where? I am on a limited budget.

Will the 79cc predator kit fit most 26“ beach cruisers? I would reuse my gas tank to make more engine space.

No, not most 26"er's, but a couple.
I used a 29" Micargi Fatal Love for my 79cc build.

Plenty of room for the engine, and plenty of power to those 29" wheels. That was fastest direct drive I ever built.

I would reuse my gas tank to make more engine space.
You lost me there.

He lost me, too.

KC, is that pipe a little bit close for comfort, or what?

I'm gonna miss your builds, if you decide to stop creating MB's.

Naw, it's not a thigh burner.
If you look closely at the left pedal it sticks out a lot, with the pipe close and behind where you leg will be there is no issue, and besides, it's not like you are ever going to actually pedal the thing.

Thanks 5-7, I'm gonna miss building them too.
