Hi,

I was hoping someone had seen a problem like this and solved it.

I have a 2005 Whizzer that runs fine as it runs on the mag. But it does not charge its battery and power the lights. Put in a charged up battery and it will power the lights until it normal would charge the battery (2000 rpm?) and the lights shut off when rpm drops back to idle the lights come back on. This will happen until the battery is dead.

I do not have a wiring diagram showing the voltage, but I do have another 2006 whizzer that charges perfectly. My first thought is to swap out voltage regulator as it picking so voltage from the coil to do whatever is killing the lights. But I hate to risk the working electronics.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

So Cal
Get a new Voltage reg
It's OK to swap it out with your other bike just to make sure that's what the problem is.

If The Voltage reg is not the Problem the check the wiring harness

So Cal
If it's not a bad electrical part or a loose connection at a plug or ground
Probably gonna have to unwrap the wiring harness and look for a broken connection

There's a spot in the harness where all the grounds are joined together
I would check that spot
Basically it's located in the fattest part of the harness

Or just get a 2 stroker and clip the white wire :)

I swapped out the regualtor and other items but no luck, I will move to figuring how to check the stater coil next.
