We are planning to put on a relay ride using one of our standard bikes, circumnavigating the country!

The idea is to get together volunteer riders from the forum, all around the country.

We were thinking to start the run in April at the Grange race, handing off the bike to a volunteer rider, and that rider will hand the bike off to the next and the next and so on .......!
Each rider drives the bike 50 to 100 miles as he wishes and hands it off to the next rider! If the bike is getting driven 2 hours a day, we will make it! Because every rider is a "local" he knows the area and where he can ride the bike legally and safe!
By breaking the ride up into "bite size" chunks, lots of people get to be involved, and the ability for people to fit this into their lives is much easier!!!!

One really cool aspect will be that we "DEMAND" every one who rides the bike will sign their name and date on the bike, and make a photo of them with the bike and post it !!!! The bike will have a California plate, and proper lighting. We will also provide tech support, though it is expected that you have basic mechanical skills.

The route would be going from Apple Valley the southern route to NEW YORK City then North and then come back
north to Washington / Seattle and back down to Grange / Apple Valley!!!!!! We want to see the last rider
to arrive at Grange at the race in October!

As you can see by the time frame given this is NOT a race against the clock but a promotion for
not only our bikes but for the whole of this hobby / sport!

We want a facebook page to follow the bike, pictures by the riders ...... Maybe even something on the website that you have talked about setting up for motor-bicycle racing?? you get the drift..!

Now we are sure that there will be many objections to such an undertaking, but we think
it is an opportunity for many bike enthusiasts to take part in an "epic" ride!

It shall be noted that we expect the riders (men or women) to be responsible for their own actions!
We will require a release of liability, a copy of your drivers license and 2 references ! We will NOT accept ANY responsibility for
ANY kind of death, personal injury or loss of any kind!

This is an event for adventurous, no crybaby's or whiners may apply!

So, if you do the math, you are looking at about 9000 miles and about 180 days to do it!

That would bring it to about 50 MILES per day!

Now you can do that! Even after work!
If you can do more...GREAT!

You have to be in contact with the guy riding before your and the guy after you! Do you have a friend 50 or 100 mile away? Ask him or her!

If everybody has this information, we get the "Daisy-chain" we need to make this project a reality!

The magic of this event is the networking of all of you guys and gals!

Yes, there are problems that have to be worked out, but it is worth it!
It's not like we try to get to the moon!!?

We do need help!!!

If you want to ride, send us an e-mail to

[email protected]

We need your name, tel. # town and zip! Do you know who could ride before you or / and after you? Do you have a backup if you get sick??

If you have any questions or ideas, please post it on the forum!!

We encourage you to spread the word at other forums as well(re-post).

Let's do this!

Kind of reminds me of the Motorcycle Cannonball Rallies, Bravo!

Interesting challenge considering the vastness of the country.

However if you can pull it off I’ll be the first to step up and will take a shift in & about Dubuque Iowa if that fits the plan.

Have you got a name in mind for the ride?

You should check out the routes the Motorcycle Cannonball used...

And if you timed it so your bike is at the big Labor Day “Davenport Show” you would be reaching the right demographic...

northeastern Minnesota
Boy does that sound like fun! I guess the chances of the route passing through northern Minnesota are slim to none even though a northern return route would be nice coming through Michigan to the upper peninsula, across northern Wisconsin to Duluth, Minnesota. I could pick it up there going west for a hundred miles. A northern route home has the advantage of less people and more friendly roads, beautiful country and cooler weather if it is summer. Too cool in early spring or late fall.

Mr. B.
What you suggest would definitely help bring attention to this enterprise and would no doubt elevate motor bicycling in the eyes of the motorcycle boys and through them and the media to the more general public. I'd be willing to link up down in Iowa going west for a leg of the journey, a hundred miles worth max or 50 or even a little 25 mile section so I could say I was part of it. Steve (fasteddy) & I were thinking about taking our Indian tri-cars down to the motorcycle show anyway. That would really be something to take part in this. Be a good chance to meet up with you, too, Mr. B. I'd like that!
Good luck with this enterprise, boys!

Mr.B!

Thank you so very much to be our #1 registered rider on this long journey!

And Silverbear!
It is great that you would go out of your way to take
part in this! We do need your infos as well! Please e-mail us to [email protected]

We think we should have a map here everybody can view with the registered
riders marked on it! Does anyone have the computer-skills for that?
There is a members map on this forum - something like that would be perfect!

Anybody in Chicago that can ride the bike to Mr.B?

The motorbicycling.com members map is here.

You don't need any computer skills to set up a map like that.
just register and post the link to the group.

You could lay out the proposed route on Goggle maps.

Do you have a proposed route in mind yet? Will Denver be on your map? Keep me in mind if so. 50 to 70 mile rides are the norm for our Denver Area Riders and many of us would be willing to participate, me especially.

Please put your marker on the map and we will connect the dots after
we have more riders!
It seems, looking at the members map, that Colorado is in the game!

If you have contact to a number of riders, please contact them.
We were thinking, that it may be the best, to give individual states
a team-leader. Because of this USA RIDE being a very large undertaking,
it would be more manageable and organized!

Thank you for putting your marker and Colorado on the map !
Please spread the word! Networking is the only way to
make this happening! Could you take the
place as the Team-leader for Colorado?

im on the map now, since there isnt very many wisconsin riders, i could see about getting an escort and some support from a local MC club for a longer ride to hook up with the next member if need be.

That is great!
The route is determent where we have the riders!
Find out who else could be before you (Chicago?) or after you!

Contacting MC-Clubs would be a great way to get the people we need!

Make sure everyone is making their mark and leaves a way to contact them!
