thats it !!!see how the pulse drives some unburnt fuel back out the intake,the reed valves keep that fuel in the engine .any dirt or missalignment will hold the reed open letting the fuel flow past affecting how well it runs.the reeds can also harden up, not letting enough fuel through.there is a few companys selling carbon fiber reed sets now.im getting ready to order some soon.ill update about them after i install them
