Gordy you’ve likely got far more experience than most you’ll meet and will continue to gain it very fast considering you’re only 17. Good on ya, never stop learning.

I’ve been fortunate to talk to many on here and FB when I decided I wanted to better know the bikers I’ve known online over the years. Even talked to a few “enemies” and all is fine. There’s one guy from the other forum who’s had my number for weeks now, but he still won’t talk it all out in a ten minute call. Not too impressed with motored.

This forum [MOTORED] takes up 90% of what I do on my phone… …I look over at the other forum once or twice a week, but don't usually have anything to comment on
I spent hours daily talkin with motorbikers on the forums, Facebook, everywhere till it got bad in just 4 years. Your phone should have screen time statistics. I bet you’re up to 8 hours a day sometimes. I’ve been there and even far worse like 12 hours maybe worst was 15 hours and I tried everything including going to a smaller screen (I tried an iPhone 13 mini $350 which wasn’t in good condition, now using an iPhone 12 mini in perfect condition for $260. They don’t make small iPhones anymore unless you want to go back to Touch ID with the SE, so used mini 12/13 is the only way to go for Face ID).

You look over at this forum once or twice a week, but were here within 10 minutes after I replied to this thread which was dead since Sunday. Ok.

most of the people here build bikes one after the other, and I simply can't afford that.

Lemme think. I have 2 trucks that need work, 2 fourwheelers that need work, a go kart a mini bike, a baker's dozen of small engines, 2 motorized bikes, several bike frames and motors, a trail 90, and lots more I'm probably forgetting
Really doesn’t sound like a money problem to me.

Nope, it's also not really practical for me to build motorized bikes anymore. I don't live in town and I don't want to ride 8 miles down a busy, curvy highway. You neglected to read the part where I mentioned the fourwheelers and tucks being far more practical, and you also didn't care to notice that I only really care to do the brakes on one truck and get the second fourwheeler running. The rest are just silly little projects I hardly have any money into. If you think I've dumped too much money into any of them, I have 100 bucks into that go kart including the brand new engine, and the mini bike I only had 200 bucks into, sold it for 600, and was given it back, so there's really no money sunk into it. The only thing I have that I may have lost money on is my 2000 gmc. I bought it, drove it for a while, and halfway through a 3000 mile road trip it blew the transmission. But what's to be expected from a truck with 250k miles.

Ever heard of Email? Well this forum sends an email when someone replies, and I check my email frequently for important emails. I do get those, I'm not as much of a bum as you think.

Step over their imaginary line in the sand and you will learn just how fast their heavy foot will land on you.
Why step over the line??? It's at a reasonable place and works remarkably well at keeping things decent, family friendly, and on topic.
Lmfao... I have a problem with screen time??? Where did you read that???
Plot twist! He didn't.
I have been struggling with this a lot since Covid and have developed strategies to help reduce it.
Strategy #1, drum roll, wait for it! Turn off the screen. Oops... now that was kinda anticlimactic, wasn't it?

Nope. Usually around 2 to 4 depending on the day and what I've got going on. Most of that is actually during school since I have mostly elective classes since I'm a sr.
2-4hrs... that's definitely not a lot. How about ya give him some tips on how it's done?

I guess that’s what their off topic forum is about, as that thread was there which is not visible to non members until it was moved. Just a whole lot of small talk and trash talk too… all talk no builds.
Yup lol! We keep our off topic talk... in the off topic forum! Now ain't that brilliant. And ya got the entiiiiirrrrrrre rest of the forum for builds.
Well they might have one or two Bicycle Engine Kit Assemblers
Yes we do! And whaddya have here, professional bicycle engine kit failers?

And actually there's considerably more than one or two, thanks to the moderation's unceasing efforts. Take Damien for instance, excellent at staffing as well as building. I can't tell you how much he's helped me, and many others over there.

Nobody’s honest about their screentime until it becomes a problem. So you got the email notification, stopped what you were doing, looked at it, went to the site, started typing a response, looked it over, hit send. It took 10 minutes. Multiplied by your average 12 posts per day on the Motored Dialogue Forum, that’s 120 minutes screentime just in responding to notifications. Nothing else not reading other posts, not texting, not browsing, not Spotify, not whatever million other things we do on our phones. Ok.

If or when you do get to that point feeling it’s a problem, I want you to know I’ll be happy to help if I’m still here.

Just word salad for why you have 10 broken down vehicles and no money. So you got experience taking stuff apart, but not always putting it back together correctly? Cause 250k is nothing for the 2000s GM platform vehicles. Heck the perfectly running parts truck that 2 friends and I cannibalized had 290k.

I’m sensing much incongruence. Let’s just focus on bikes.

Hey Johnny, welcome to the forum. I see you’ve joined to defend your boy Gordy and the Motored Dialogue Forum, but we’d really like if you introduced yourself in our intro section. Please tell us a bit about yourself, where you live, your profession, what kind of builds you’ve done or are planning, and what you hope to learn or discover by signing up.

I'll interpret it for ya lol: He's a highschool kid who can't make a lot of money yet, so he gets the most he can for the money he has, and has the knowledge to use his money to make more money. I'm sure he'd be happy to give ya some tips!

Lol his dad blew the transmission on the dang thing up towing a little too much on a cross-country road trip. Everything has it's limits.

May I remind you guys of first of the forum rules that you agreed to when you signed up:
paul said:
1. BE KIND TO OTHERS - This is the number one rule for a reason. Be helpful to others. There are many levels of builders and tinkerers. Treat all members with respect. If you have a different opinion about something, or have something critical to say, there are nice, and not so nice ways to say things. Remember, this is a public forum. When you say something publicly about someone, it's received differently than when said privately.
