Hello i have 1976 Honda PC50 k1 lovely little moped great fun . I have plenty of spark at the plug but won't start any ideas what to try next ? Thanks Red 50 .

Hello many thanks for the reply yes plenty of fuel pipe into carb . Carb bowl appears full of petrol and the drain on the carb pours fuel when the screw is taking out . There is a small spilt in the float in the carb not sure how long that has been there ? Was running so so a couple abit down on power a hesitancy when trying to accelerate . My PC 50 has done 1000 miles now from new was a 2 owner moped from new . Purchased in March 2022 with a white top box very handy . Thanks Red 50

Have you throughly cleaned the carb? Ethanol added fuel is really bad about clogging up jets. This is why most of us long time forum members will only use a 100% Ethanol free gas.

Now I've heard of this ethanol problem in the past. I've been using just normal unleaded no additive . What's best for a full carb clean ? At least it's an easy moped to work on . Thanks Red 50

Take the carb apart and spray it down with carb cleaner. Carb cleaning kits are helpful also. Only use carb cleaner on metal parts. For non-metal parts I like using Sea Foam.

Make sure you completely clean out the carb jets!!!
Just because you have fuel into the bowl doesn't mean it's actually making it into the airflow, (& into the engine).
Hello thankyou for the advice on the carb cleaning for my Honda PC50 is it ok to use an airline on low air to dry off ? Ethanol in modern fuel does block up the old carbs . Great little moped it had a hesitancy on acceleration before the none starting problem . Plenty of spark at the plug . Thanks .

'hesitancy on acceleration' is a symptom of a clogged pilot jet... clean it out with carburetor cleaner spray (not air).

Whatcha mean there's a split in the Float. Is there a hole in the Float?

If there's a hole in your float then that's your problem, or at least, one of your problems
Just a small spilt on one side of the float not sure how long it's been there ? Had the PC 50 since March 2022 ran ok once i got it going took awhile as off the road for 40 years . Can't find a supply of new float to replace . Is it possible to glue it with a glue that is compatible with petrol ? Thanks Red 50

While I've never repaired a carb float or can't recommend what glue to use
It can be done, Float just needs to be air tight so it don't fill up with gas

My carb float is Solid so can't fill up with gas . Has a very small spilt on the side of it . Just need a glue which is petrol resistant . Thanks Red 50

OK, if it's a solid float that little slit won't hurt it, Don't even play with it
