Keep breaking drive chains on my 2013 Phatmoto!

Hi all! I'm having a constant problem with the 415H drive chain on my 2023 Phatmoto All Terrain: Every time I back the bike up (whether the motor is running or not), the chain snaps the master link. I'm not running the chain too tight (unless it should be run *very* loose?), so I'm at a loss about this. Any thoughts?

Snaps the master link or just pops the clip off?

Welcome to the forum, it sounds like you have a alignment issue, you should be able to roll the bike either way without any problems. If you have things skewed to keep the chain from hitting the tire or frame you'll have to figure out another way to get clearance.

Believe it (or not), master links have a correct (& incorrect) way of being installed.
If the clip is installed backwards, it can pop off during chain rotation; Because you say it only happens when you roll the bike backwards, I'm going to assume you have it installed correctly, but the clip might be coming in contact with with something (like the side of the tire) causing it to pop off.

Thanks, guys, for responding! Venice motor bikes had it nailed: Since I always put the master link clip on with the closed end toward the chain's rotation, when I backed up the bike, I found that the chain would periodically rub against the plastic primary cover, which would then "flick off" the master link clip into the stratosphere! Since the bike is in alignment (thanks Greg58), I just need to file that area away to cure the problem!
