Unfortunately the moderator Damien is the same. In private conversation he is using other builders’ experience to discredit my arguments. In other words I am having a discussion with other builders not in the room.

Some numbers that will help you-

The Chicago schwinn headtube is 5-3/8” long. The headtube ID is 1.281” or 32.5 ID.

It may be possible to run an external cartridge bearing headset for a 1-1/8 fork. If you measure the ID of the headset cups you’ll find it’s a hair bigger than 1-1/8”. My new custom has the same headtube dimensions as your schwinn (1.5” 12g DOM tube). I’ll be running standard cup and cone headset for now, but I’ve been researching cartridge style integrated headsets to run instead. I’ll let you know what I come up with if I go down that route.

Actually what Damien the moderator did... is very ugly.

In a discussion where somebody began insulting me but being unable to discuss a topic.. He claimed to have no bias and yet hit “like” only on the other person’s comments.

Then in PM he began to use other people’s experience to discredit me, once again being unable to discuss a topic at hand.

When I mentioned having this discussion with people not in the room, he said “this conversation has come to its end”.

He could have stopped replying or simply turned off commenting. But instead he waited for me to respond, and once I did, he banned me.

He mentioned he retired from police work in ‘89. Not surprised! A real power tripper. I shudder to think of all the people he hurt, illegally searched and threw in jail, who challenged him in the days before body cams. The kind of bad apple cop that we are all scared of. BEWARE!

I have, was, on both forums since early 2016.
Both forums offered camaraderie, but only this forum entertained Master Builders.

No clue why the other moderator is so fascinated with what goes on here.

Every week they send me a summary of subjects that appeared on the other site that I may find interesting. Every week I look at it and it backs up my decision to join this forum when I heard about it. Someone there said they were leaving to go to the other forum and that started me looking until I found it. I was constantly being suspended for no reason than whoever started the forum was on a power trip.

I've been here since February 2009. I rarely look at the other forum because it really hasn't changed at all. He retired from police work or was he escorted to the front door and it was locked behind him.

Yes Tom the contrast is surprising. I joined about the same time as you and quit in 2019 after encountering the same attitudes from people who practically lived there. That mod became a member in 2020 and has since racked up a whopping 8500 posts. That’s a helluva lot of insignificant small talk!

Escorted out. He’s 68ish now, so in ‘89 when he “retired” from policing and went into auto repair he would have been 34 years old.

I think so. Dude mentioned how horrible this forum must be because it allows members with the salute. I never looked at it but now I know. Yeah the Power Tripper is super salty about that. Well done @Mossy!

Actually when I first did the math I was tired and thought the Power Tripper was 44 when he “retired” from police work. But doing it right, him getting kicked out of the department at 34 years old, it makes perfect sense... especially the auto work afterwards. You always see shady people working as mechanics in the shady repair shops... ouch.

The thing about this forum is there is no crazy here... it just doesn’t need moderation.

I believe what goes on in this Website should stay in this Website. What goes on at another Website should stay at that Website. We are just people who like to work on, ride and build motorized bicycles. Professional Motorcycle Organizations have a Code: what goes on in the Club stays in the Club. Members of those Clubs could receive a warning, severe punishment up to or including death depending upon the extent of the violation. I'm just saying we should look at our hobby with a more serious professional attitude and not go flapping our traps about... .
