Has anyone tried a add-on pull start on the standard 80cc engines?
By the looks of the add-on, it will be in the way of the pedal arm.

Yes, and I added a centrifugal clutch at the same time and had to bend both legs of the pedal crank to clear. Also the rope on the pull start lasts about 3 pulls and you have to get some quality stuff from the lawnmower shop.

Thankyou. It's good to know what I can expect.

I have always been using a recoil starter as I am using Briggs & Stratton engine. I had a starter rope have the outer black covering bunch up when it separated from the three inner white strands making up the cord. I got it freed up make shift til I got better cord. I just shortened the cord and pulled the outer covering taught, then tied a not in the end at the handle. I bought some cord meant for the engine specific, but just did not get it in time. I used instead some windsurf down haul lines. It is called Spectra brand. http://www.windpowerwindsurfing.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6958 I'll hope it last a long time. There may be some reason to have a line more flexible the way the original line is made with the inner strands, but I know this stuff is used normally under much greater demand on windsurf sail down haul.

Some pictures of you installs would be great. Have fiber arms on for the pedals so not quite sure what I'm gonna do there yet.
