Hey was wandering if anyone has cut off their clutch pulley and welded a bigger one on ?

I have 2 clutches so I'm open to modifying one.

Do you know what your gear ratio should be?
If not, do research and find out.

What pulley diameters do you have on the bike now?

We talked about the sheave and the clutch being to high if it burns up o well

According to online calculators 5:1

15 inch sheave converted from millimeters,

1/2 pitch clutch about 2.5 according to the shipping package.

Push come to shove I'll grind down my extra chain clutch that wasn't compatible for my build and weld on a pulley aproxximatly 4 inches the goal is 32mph "period."

By the way, your gear ratio is 6:1.
15/2.5 = 6:1.

If you think this ratio will burn up your clutch,
then welding in a 4" pulley will burn it up AGAIN.....
only much much quicker.

15/4 = 3.75:1

Run your bike with 6:1 gears, if you like.

When it burns up, you need to
install a SMALLER pulley.

You seem like the kind of guy who learns
his lessons the hard way.

What you are doing has been done before.
It's cheaper and less stressful to learn from
other people's mistakes.

No offense meant.

Was thinking of welding the other clutch solid state simulating direct drive define smaller what's smaller then 1/2?

Direct drive?
Do you mean without a clutch?

Of course, you will use an idler puller, or a lever to disengage the belt, correct?

You need to google and read about pulleys and mechanical advantage.

Define smaller?

You have a 2.5" pulley.
What's smaller is 2.25", 2", 1.75", 1.5", 1"

What's smaller than 1/2"?
1/4", 1/8".

How can you be thinking of anything smaller than the size of your engine shaft?

You're not making sense.

Seriously, you need to learn more about pulleys and
the concept of gear ratios and mechanical advantage.

You should've paid more attention in school.

No offense meant.

Direct manual etc what ever it's called I read up on all of that it's still trail and error like a CVT YOU CANT JUST SLAP PARTS ON sorry no offense but I'm not a moron, I am just cheap as ****.

I'm already aware that 1/4 is smaller and 1/8 all I can do is test and build til correct the bike will be about 70-80lbs once complete.

Base drag is 38 for fully loaded frame the motor is 32 lbs by its self.

Instead of implying educations a problem, let's get to the bottom of this, if you've learned anything about studies about the A student vs the average C student you would know bookies can't do **** but they can talk all day about it. No disrespect intended I'm already at minimum of $225 in budget plus.....

If the damn clutch burn up F that clutch but I'm still going to build it up (correct and ride with pride.)

Use this calculator:
http://jimsitton.net/ratiocalc/

You need a 1.75" pulley with
a 15" sheave to go 32mph

with engine speed at 3600rpm.

That's with 8.57:1 gear ratio.
15/1.75 = 8.57:1
Thank you I had a hard time finding a calculator that was the main problem.

....... link is broken is this for desktop?

....... update thanks for helping with conversion I am ordering one from Walmart.

I dropped on the 69 inch belt it was a bit too small so I will be taking it back for the 72 Wednesday.

That should leave thumb play for adding a tensioner.

LOL, bookies can't do *****.

Yes, let's get to the bottom of this.

So you're saying all these bike builders are dumb and learn the hard way.

Umm, A & B & some C students can talk all day about the problem,
do research.....

THEN accomplish what they need to do,
be it rocket science, IT, heart surgery, motorized bike building.

It's smart to think things through, ask questions, learn from other people's successes and failures, do what they did.

This is not rocket science.
If someone's done what you're trying to do.....

DO WHAT HE DID!

That's the smart thing to do.

I'm done.

Well I appreciate all your help cause I know I can be annoying and paranoid about thing like this... I am not taking anyone here for granted all of you guys are like the back bone to my bikes vertebrae not calling anyone dumb it's just logical reference to proven studies.

What is not rocket science to others is a new experience to others building a transmission is different then building a rear end.

Ford was not built over night from 1903 to now fords sons dad probably rolling over in his grave.

Anyway I'm butting out now I'll do a vid once it's done,

You can't say dumb but on a first build or a new upgrade you can be ignorant. If your ignorance is not rectified by doing some reasonable research, and you go all in you my be dumbfounded and hence the hard way or the highway. Thanks guys because of this sight my first build of a pk80 went so good after I read 8 out 20 top sticky threads.
