Buying my first welder with the correct welding protection and supplies for my job,

.35 flux core with brazng rods 90 amp mig set up...

Small cursive e's at a 15° angle ....

What I don't understand WTF is speed?

2.0 speed also after all this welding what will strip all the original paint the fastest?

Most of all say use a chisel, just don't want to body bonds or mess up factory welds.

All open ears take a look.

Don't buy the 90 mig it is a waste of money, it's an ac machine. On Monday use the 25 percent off coupon to get either the mig 170 or better yet the mig 180 which are dc machines but the 180 has a dial for voltage vs switches for the 170. Get .030 wire and at least two cans of anti spatter. Using lots of anti spatter allows you to get gas mig looking welds with fluxcore. Cause fluxcore is all spatter. The price difference between the crap 90 and the 170 is what you'll spend in grinder flap wheels to make the 90 welds look like the 170's.

Also... I know you won't listen now... But when you put it together you'll understand... That gear ratio is way too tall for that motor... It's even too tall for a 212

It's a pawn shop welder, comes with blue lightning rods on addition for $69.99

The second 90 has .30 gauge wire, I don't have a lot of money to burn on supplies, also of it helps the gauge o will be welding is 16 gauge which I here 18 GA is far thinner.

Not sure what area to go with, I really despise putting $200 + on a welding box with supplies why is the 90 so bad for a beginner.

Because you will end up buying a better one, after you realize Tony is right, coast twice as much. I have had a Lincoln SP 100 with gas for close to 30 years now, still going strong. I would of bought bigger but, 100 was the biggest they had that plugged into 110 volt. Now you can get 180 welders that plug into 110....................Curt

If i remember right i had to make payments for part of it, but at least i got what was needed. Look for one you can use flux core and with gas option, that way you can always get the gas latter ......................Curt

Define gas I don't use that oxy stuff not taking a flight to the moon via gas tank.

I'll report back today are you going to be online around 6pm I get off work then so I may just layaway the welder.

I've finally got the opportunity to buy a new car in November..

Misses sees I'm not playing the freeze in rain and wait game this year...

Hitting up the auction for a 2009-2017 of course I know my boss will be mad cause I won't buy their 07 "CHYSLER part time" cruiser or the 2010 hhr.

For what I know about the business they got them sobs for 300- 1000 and marked up the price to 3k and 7k

I'd rather pay 700 with fees and deal with 09-2015 problems my self.

A tyranny swap for those pts are about 450 to do my self and motors about 5 with warranties.

Argon/ C02 mix for mig welding, nice smooth clean welds, no flux to chip off. So much easier to weld with, look on you tube...............Curt

The hf 90 is an ac only machine. So it is crap. There is a class of welders that are dc machines that will plugged into 110 but they only come from quality suppliers like Lincoln and Hobart and they aren't cheap, in fact they are double the price of the mig 180.... But you won't listen anyway... So go ahead and get the 90 if you insist.... Why start a thread about it at all...

And as I told you in the other thread you need to go to a 16" wheel to make the WHIZZER sheave work. Or bolt two 26" rims together and use one as a sheave and one for your tire. Or in your case bolt another 700c rim to yours to use as a sheave. It's called a gear ratio Google it.

Also the gas curt is talking about is shielding gas for mig, not oxyA. With fluxcore your weld shieding is a thin layer of material encasing mig wire. That's why mig wire is copper and flux core is silver looking. With gas mig you get the copper wire and the gas is used to shield the weld. The spatter caused by fluxcore is the result of the shielding material on the wire burning off and jumping off. OxyAcetalyne is a great tool to have but the joints need to be cut pretty close to weld with it strongly, which is why a dc welder is a much better tool to have.

If you do buy the welder that is being spoken of and make the big jump in price, it really does make sense to have a continuously variable amps control. I'm not sure it comes in any brand using 110 volts. My Hobart 130 AMP MIG runs on 110 volts and has 4 amps settings and for thinner metal it would be a lot easier or rather possible at all to do without a variable amps adjustment. If you do have access to 220 volts source then it is best to get the bigger welder. And in doing so if it cost a small percentage more to have continuously variable amps then really it is a no brainer.

Some one may say your going to burn up the welder to me or get hurt, but I may eventually make a modification to have variable or at least a few extra settings at lower amps to do sheet metal.

Thicker sheet metal on up to 1/4 inch I do as the machine comes. Was about 700 Bills and then a tanks that cost after initial purchase (though is exchange) 50 to 70 dollars a for a fill of the mix AR75% CO2 25%

I have a very manageable 40 cubic foot capacity 2200 psi tank. Small or larger tanks cost about the same to fill, but I don't use it enough to care, when transporting and weight lifting is an issue.

I didn't want the 90 also I went with a welder qualified for the job came with slag breaker/brush, a full roll of 0.30 flux and has heat control temp for welds of 10GA to 30GA if I'm correct for $150.00 dropped from $189.00

The wheel thing will be handled since my job laid me off today and Tuesday's my last day I can't get the new car unless this other job I applied for hires me on.

Ducked my whole auction agreement up with my wife she was going to put half up for what I saved -,-

Anyway!

Sorry about work, hope it comes through on the other job.

I see it has 6 output settings. I also looked at other of HF similar welders looking for continuous variable amps out put instead of the dtent 6 settings or like mine has 4 settings.

Just a note about auto darkening helmets like one I saw at HF and also one I actually bought on Amazon, beware you do not want to get one that you throw out after 5 years or so when sealed non replaceable battery is dead. It is planned obsolescence. Some say that you must bring to authorized dealer to have battery changed. Solar cells on these do not allow the helmet to be used if the battery is dead. I did have Amazon refund for return, so that was good.

I like my bottom rung cost wise Miller helmet as it uses 2 AA batteries and has a warning and test button. I've had a dive computer for SCUBA in the past that they sealed the battery in. They charged an arm an a leg to replace the battery. I say $^&&$ to that! If it is user replaceable battery that they allow, this should be in the ad. Beware, like for me I did not know until I got it in the mail that there only factory authorize battery service.

Ohhh A-ha! I know well I want one of those cheap helmets no special duh dads, me patience and a weld for completed focus. Can't see during daylight until the sparks fly.

Laying double lined thin welds,

Cursive e with low hang time. The sheet I have is close to being fully cutout.

(Rolling) is my main concern as far as now goes...... calculations have been done before hand which includes the sheave size matched to rim size which is actually smaller then a 26 inch rim as a 700c

My gear ratio is 5:1 basically

15 inch sheave

25 inch wheel in theory which is smaller 1/2 drive

If not fast enough because the 1/2 clutch drive pull with 1600 engagement.

The limited speed calculated by pulley distance diameter/pulley center of 70.1in belt

Speed could only be cut possibly from 32.86mph would only be shortened to the unknown variable 16.43 mph.
That's (IF) that conclusion is effected by drive line.

Unknown variable mathematics would work like this:

RPM: rotations per minute

RSS: Rear Sheave Size

GR: Gear ratio

RRS: Rear Rim Size

NML: No Mass Load

RPM x RSS x GR x RRS x NML= MPH/NML

MPH is calculated mathematics equation of NML.

But what happens when the NML=32.86 MPH But what if we add a mass load to this equation.

This unknown variable is (ML)
Being the weight of the vehicle,

RPM x RSS x GR x RRS x NML= MPH/NML % GR x ML(D)= 16.43ML>32.86NML given the 1/2 would make that power difference under load.

No.

Build it then and see for yourself. Gonna burn that $50 clutch in minutes.

I built my bike at first and have similar briggs and had 8:1 and yes the clutch will burn.

I had to have more reduction. 12:1 and it goes. 20:1 and riding hills in the woods this is even better.

Well really first bike long ago 24 inch frame I had something like 5:1 ratio direct drive (no clutch) and that can work, but it chuggs to get going. I hear that is also when starting out chugging doing carbonation faster of the head. Still it was fun and in the woods took a 70 foot run up to a hill for jumping a little. Somehow I didn't kill myself. Now I wear full motorcross protection besides helmet.
