Holy sheep ****!! After Months ( and months and months) trying to get a repete saddle from Silverstate and on many occasions only offering to give them money and NO response to email-text and voice mail; I finally gave in and sent my buissness to Sportscarpats and ordered one of he's Messenger saddles... I have a Silverstate saddle on my Pope build and its a VERY good quality saddle and about $180 less than Pats saddle. Let me tell you. The $ 180 difference is worth EVERY PENNY. The saddle I just received from Pat is of exceptional quality: and I know of what I speak. I have done due dilliigence and research on my on Flying Merkel build ( build thread to follow ) this will surpass in many ways the POPE build I did a few years ago and I must say the saddle from SCP will be a major standout part of the build. I paid lots "O" money for this bit and was not happy about it, Silverstate let me down and I had no other choice. Now: I find I was blessed by there indfiference or absence OR further non existence of buisness because the saddle I received from Sportscarpat is of UNBELEVABLE quality. I cant tell you how pleased I am by this product, and I'm not easy to please... If you want the best for you BTR build I can only say: DO NOT Vacelate. Grit your teeth and pay the price $$$ You will NOT be dissapointed. Just holding it in my hands is a pleasure. Fantastic stuff. WELL DONE PAT !! You have injected new energy into my Flying Merkle build and I'm now on a rampage to get er' done!!.wee. Ride on brother... Ride on. (Silverstate can suck my **** ) Should read "KOCK"

Well thanks for the kind words, Velo! A LOT of effort went into the development of these saddles. It took three generations of seat pans to whittle down to the correct overall dimensions and each time I made a change we had to change the leather shaping buck. I am also on my second leather craftsman as the first guy, although very talented, practiced his trade only part time and finally had to go back to his main job with full focus. The originals used a formed plywood pan. Since I work in metal my pans are made from laser cut and then press formed heavy stainless steel. This gives a reliable and permanent structure. From there we use high quality american leather. We also now offer an economy version of the seat for half the cost, but the high end Mesinger version is by far the best.

Yep said to say I sent many folks to Silver state all with the same complaint.. No return calls emails or says he'll do some thing then kabam he disappears. I have since sold my SSC frame but I do have a Sportscarpat seat pan that Scott covered for me and it is awesome! Too bad his stuff is/was very affordable

I did the same thing with trying to build a pedal crank/jack shaft and after spending a lot of money and failing I realized that anyone who sold parts that they used on a record setting bike was a lot smarter than me. More research and development that I was capable of.

I cut the chasing around and bought a Sportsman Crank Set and it was in and functioning in about ten minutes and I feel worth every penny I spent. Great quality. They are now putting a Sprocket Adapter and a 72 tooth sprocket together for me for the tri car. With the 3 piece adapter and it's superior holding power I won't need to worry about it slipping on the hub if I have a passenger in the front seat.

As my old Dad always told me , No one ever lost out by buying the best.

Oh, thanks a lot, Velo for linking to Monty Python. Now I'll spend the rest of the evening sitting here watching vid clips.
They take me back to the 70s and laughing until I hurt. 'Street Climbing'. Why is there no humor like that today?

I've used Pat's parts on many of my high end bikes... The quality is always well worth the extra money when you're trying to build something exceptionally nice! (^)

Yeah Baby!

A guy who sold his Co. to the company I was working for had a sign over his desk that said;

It is impossible to spend too much money for a thing as if you pay more all you have lost is a little money. But if you pay less you may lose it all as the thing you bought is incapable of doing the task you bought it for.

Hey Everybody,

I too am impressed with the sportsman flyer brand and the quality they put into their products. They are a class act.

However, I feel like I must defend Scott of Silver State Cycles. I met him a couple of times at the Grange races and he is a stand-up guy who attended with his family and he kicked down quite a few prizes. He has vast mechanical knowledge and builds quality components. He did mention the difficulty of making a profit in the motorized bicycle world due to low budget expectations of customers. Maybe he is shifting away from motorized bikes, and I feel for the OP in regards to waiting for a response, but I just don't agree with calling him an a-hole or bashing him, he is not an a-hole.

Never ment to call an ass _**** and I dont think I did, just unresponsive and offering a low quality product. I tried and tried to give him money, he refused to respond. Mabey not an Ass **** but certanly a Dick. And I don't care what his famley is like. Not my problem. I need parts. Which aparently he cant provide,

I apologize Velodrome, you in fact did not use the "a" word.

I re-read your post and see that I mis-spoke. I should not have responded, it's not my business, I just felt bad that someone I sort of know was being bad mouthed and he seemed like a nice helpful friendly guy when I met him.

I am glad you have found happiness in your new seat purchase and good luck on your upcoming build.

Gilbert

Scott could at least answer his calls or emails and say either way whether he is going to or not sell the things etc. ....that he doesn't even do that open the door to the remarks.
Hard to defend that position really.

No offence taken Gilbert. I am happy with the Silverstate saddle on my Pope build and will not be replacing it. Just saying the extra $$ spent on Pats saddle was NOT mispent. Dollar for dollar its worth every penny in value added to a high dollar build. You want cheep? Go roll your own. Want the real deal? Pay master Pat.

!!! OOH SEXY !!! Thanks for the link! I'm done building motorbicycles once this Flying Merkle is done. I feel this build will mete the pinicle of my mechanical builds. If I can pull this off; I will have no where left to go. I plan to going
a different rout once I'm done. Wooden Kayaks are my next challenge, Check it! http://www.pygmyboats.com/boat-kits.html
