The AFC, which the winner of I expect the Card's will be playing in Super Bowl 50, looks like this:

One of the best games of the NFL season Monday night ended just before midnight with the Denver Broncos clinching a playoff berth. That was only one result an overtime classic that had more on the line than any game all season.

Here is all the fallout you need to know from the game:

1. With the victory, the Broncos avoided free-falling out of the playoffs and kept control of the AFC West. They now can clinch the division and a playoff bye next week with a home victory over the four-win Chargers.

2. The Bengals missed a golden opportunity to make the Divisional Round after building a 14-0 lead. Cincinnati no longer has a chance to win the No. 1 seed in the AFC. That's especially damaging because Andy Dalton is not expected to be ready to play on Wild Card Weekend.

The Bengals could still win a playoff bye, however, if they beat the Ravens next and the Broncos slip up against San Diego.

3. The Chiefs narrowly missed jumping into first place in the AFC West. They remain in the No. 5 slot, and could still win the division next week if they win and the Broncos lose.

4. The Colts remain alive! Part one of their ten-part dream to win the AFC South came through with the Broncos win. Unfortunately, Indianapolis might have to start Stephen Morris at quarterback against Tennessee in the season finale.

5. The Texans, meanwhile, presumably will play to win next week with the division not technically clinched yet.

6. The Broncos clinching a playoff spot eliminated one potential path for the Steelers to get into the playoffs. Now it's simple: Pittsburgh needs to beat Cleveland, and hope Rex Ryan exacts revenge in a win over the New York Jets.

7. The Patriots will earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a win in Miami next week. Losing that game early in the day would open the door for the Broncos to earn home-field advantage in the afternoon.

Greg58, I agree about home field, there are so many advantages beyond the crowd.
It the difference between comfortable at home and a hotel room.

Just your home locker room is huge.
Then there is the actual travel.
And of course the actual field itself, especially the sidelines.

It looks like the Card's may let 2nd string QB Drew Stanton play again next weekend to close the regular season as well as some other 2nd stringers at key positions against the SeaJokes here in AZ.

We limped into the payoffs last year with a decimated offense and 3rd string QB, not gonna happen this year, we are deep and strong and this IS the Cardinal's ring year.

I guess I should have stayed up later. I went to bed thinking it was all over but the crying. But...I got up this morning to a happy, smiling lady. She stayed up into overtime and was glad she did. She got to see a good win. Nice goin' Donkeys. Thanks.

Well ya! Got to support the football spouse! Mine is a gem that routes as much as me, plus I get the Ronco 'extra added super double bonus' of her making all the football snacks for us ;-}

The AFC is pretty much up grabs with one game left, but the NFC is pretty clear.

The NFC playoff teams are set. Now we just need to figure out where the teams will be seeded.
Week 17 will have less drama than usual in the NFC because the Panthers, Cardinals, Packers, Redskins, Vikings and Seahawks have already punched their playoff tickets.

But seeding makes a big difference, and nearly every seed remains up for grabs. There's one exception to that ... let's get into it.
This is our final look at the NFC's playoff picture, which can be seen in full here. We'll update the AFC on Tuesday.
Redskins locked into No. 4 seed

Led by Kirk Cousins, the NFC East champions are playing their best football late in the year.
At 8-7, the Redskins could still be one of the worst teams in NFL history with the option to rest their starters in Week 17.
Sunday's game against Dallas means nothing for Washington other than the bragging rights of a winning record. The Redskins' backup and No. 3 quarterback are both much better than Cowboys starter Kellen Moore, anyhow. The Redskins can't improve their seed, so they will be hosting a Wild Card Weekend game. And there is a big difference between facing Seattle (yet again) and the NFC North runner up.
Could Packers and Vikings win by losing?

The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings play for the NFC North title on Sunday night, with the winner getting a home game against the NFC's No. 6 seed. The only problem with that scenario: The Seahawks are currently the No. 6 seed.

Would you rather have a road game in Washington or a home game against the Seahawks?

While the chances for a win look better against the Redskins, it's not like NFL teams would ever think that way. The Packers and the Vikings are both trying to play quality football heading into the playoffs. Minnesota is succeeding lately; Green Bay is not. The NFC North crown also has meaning, especially to the Vikings. It's even more important to ownership, financially, to add a home playoff date that brings in huge added revenue.
The Packers and Vikings will know their potential opponents before they suit up.

If the Packers lose to Minnesota, they will be the No. 5 seed and head to Washington regardless. Things are more complicated for the Vikings. If Seattle wins in Arizona on Sunday afternoon, the Vikings could fall to the No. 6 seed with a loss on Sunday night. That could mean trips to Lambeau in back-to-back weeks for Minnesota.

If the Seahawks lose in Arizona, the Seahawks will be locked into the No. 6 seed and play the NFC North champion. And the Seahawks can't count on the Cardinals taking it easy on them ...
No. 1 seed still up for grabs

So much for the Panthers resting starters.
Carolina's loss in Atlanta combined with the Cardinals' utter destruction of all things Green Bay guaranteed a more interesting Week 17 in the NFC.

The NFL cooperated by moving Carolina's finale against Tampa to 4:25 p.m. ET so that it started at the same time as Arizona.

KC- This is when you really appreciate a dual HD tuner VDR.
I can jump back and forth between games during commercials and fast forward though the paused commercials so I can actually watch both games virtually live within usually 4-5 minutes on the 65" HDTV.

The scenario here is simple. The Panthers clinch the No. 1 seed and homefield advantage with a victory over the Bucs. If Carolina slips up again, Arizona could win home-field advantage by beating the Seahawks.

The Arizona-Seattle game is a strange one.

These are two of the best teams in the entire league and division rivals.
Coming off a bad loss at home, the Seahawks don't want to go 2-4 in the division. But this game might ultimately mean nothing. The Cardinals and Seahawks could be locked into the No. 2 and No. 6 seeds based on results out of their control.

If nothing else, the Week 16 results guaranteed that Carolina and Arizona would be going all out this week.
"I don't think you get anything out of resting guys," Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said. "We're playing so well right now, we don't want to change."'

Next week won't have any drama for me other than I want to see the Cardinal's kick the **** out of Seattle next week even if doesn't mean anything to the playoff picture, I just really dislike them ;-}

:)

I have a happy wife tonight. Manning pulled it off and put the Broncs in good position.
KC, we might be head to head come Super Bowl. Time will tell.

You guys are going to make a football fan of me even though I'll go there kickin' and screamin'. That was a good game and I had a steak and lobster dinner to go with it. It doesn't get much better than that.

OMG, what a poor end to the regular season!
Granted it didn't mean anything, but getting beat by 30 points at home?
The Card's usually win by that many points and haven't lost that bad in years.

No serious injuries which was important, but that was humiliating!

The season resets next weekend and it's based on Seeding now.
Win or go home.
#1 seeds in each division get the easy route.

First round bye for you like us.
Though you have a great backup QB as do the Cards, I couldn't see Manning be #2 in the playoffs, especially after 2 weeks rest.

In the NFC the Panthers and Cards let the 2 Wild Card's fight it out with lowest ranked (seeded) division winners.
The lower the seed number the better they are.

The best of them play us at home, the lower seeded (higher seed number) play at the Panthers.

That means the #2 Cards face either the Vikings or the Redskins at home to move on, and the Panthers face the SeaJokes or Packers.

That leaves 2 teams for the NFC title and a Superbowl.

On the AFC side the #1 Broncos face the Steelers or Chiefs, and #2 Patriots face the Bengals or Texans.

Man do I want to see the Steelers take the AFC so we can have a rematch of 2009 SuperBowl where we lost by 4 in a damn close up and down game.

The Cardinals, like the Chargers suck! Maybe they should start racing motorized bicycles??? LOL Lmao hahaha!
Hehhee! They may have done better racing MB's last Sunday, that's for sure, but they have 2 more wins to get into the Super Bowl so they don't suck that bad hehe ;-}

No CA teams in the playoffs though, that must suck.
Then again 3 teams want to move to L.A. including the Chargers.

And what about St. Louis?
They are another rotating door for teams there, the Rams want out there.
You would think they would bitter about getting the Rams when the Card's left to roost in the Desert but from I have read there still a lot of Card's fans there.

It's kind of crazy here this weekend, downtown the College Football Championship 'fan experience' until Monday night and all the craziness surrounding it.

I have today's games set to record on DVR as I need to finish this customers conversion build for an Electric Stingray to a 4-Stroke so he can get out to Cardinal's Stadium tomorrow for work, he's downtown today.

It doesn't matter who we play, the Cards will win the Super Bowl this year just because we were denied winning it when it was here last year!

As for my reference to our home field, it will always be what it started with.

The University of Phoenix acquired the naming rights in September 2006, shortly after the stadium had opened under the name Cardinals Stadium. The "University of Phoenix" name is applied as a corporate sponsor, and not as the home stadium of the university, which has no intercollegiate athletics program.

I have a Cardinals Stadium hat, as well as a Phoenix Cardinals hat and will refer to both that way because, well, I can ;-}

Where's KC today? I'd have thought he would have been here crowing! Maybe he's nursing a hangover after the celebration of last night's game.

Broncos today. I'm going shopping for a new computer while the stores are empty. When they play at home Denver shuts down. Streets are empty, no one in the stores, quiet and peaceful.

What a Playoff weekend!
All 4 games were really good.

But none as memorial as that wacky Green Bay @ Cardinals game.
It is still front page sports news and nfl.com is looking to name two of the plays in that game with video clips at http://www.nfl.com/voting/name-the-play/2015/POST/19

They are:
Name Aaron Rodgers' game-tying Hail Mary
Name Larry Fitzgerald's big overtime play

It's worth watching again so I saved it, it was just that good in a Cardiac Cardinals kind of way.

Card's had a 7 point lead and the Packers ~40 awy 4th down with seconds to go.
Held them good and on the last play as time expired they threw a hail mary, and got the extra point for a tie.

Twice in 3 weeks?
Wacky.

On the coin flip, Rodgers pointed out the coin didn't flip.
The ref flipped it again and the Card's got the ball.

That's when Larry took over the game.
Green Bay left him uncovered when Palmer scrambled away from him, Palmer saw him and threw it clear across the field and Larry ran 75 yards to the 4 yard line.

But that is not the best part...
On 1st and goal the Card's ran a trick play coach BA said "We have been practicing that play for 18 weeks, we thought now would be a good time to use it".

A shovel pass to Larry he ran right up the middle for the game winning 4 yard score.

It was a thing of beauty for the future Hall of Famer and home town hero.

So as it should be the #1 and #2 teams play for the super bowl next.

The Seajokes gave the Panthers a good run, but they haven't played us.
The Card's find a way to win, and even if it's ugly, it's always entertaining.

Only two more games to win Super Bowl 50 ;-}
