Have a friend who will weld it for free!! Have been hunting for piping but really dont know where to look and who to buy from any suggestions?

While ive been sitting on getting the frame welded up I needed to have a ride cause ive been missing out on the beautiful weather- This was where the kit on the red bike went. I hate the tank so Ill make something up soon

Depends on the carb anota. If you use a spigot mount carb you will need a flanged tube to mount to the motor, then a rubberseal with clamp hold carb to the tube...otherwise you need a carb with flange oriented to the head.

Its the 22 mikuni carb!

Since ive been waiting for the steel to come in my minds been going off about what else to do with the bike. I just had knee surgery and had a pair of crutches hangin around so im making 3/4 aluminum truss rods. Very much for decoration but ill paint some patina on them.

2 different pics of full bike is just for eyeballing how high/low I want the engine. Definitely like it lower but higher than it is in the LOW picture

Looks like your doing a lot work to make the bike look like a legit Boardtracker, have you thought about mounting the motor at an angle with the cylinder at 90 degrees?

Sorry guys I just moved so all things stopped for a little. I do not no the wheelbase but its gunna be freakin insane!!

Made up this front end with an old car headlight-- still waiting on steel:/

PS: yes i did put the front fender on backwards haha

it has been FOREVER since i worked on this bike cause i went off to college. Im at RISD in providence so I'm close to home and facilities are top notch for this.. My J term is actually metal so my teacher was really excited by the idea of me building the bike.

Here it is so far. Engine mount is going to be welded in with faux bolts to give it a lighter bolt-on look. Making a manifold and exhaust today and reinforcing frame. Its an 8 inch stretch so very long and roomy. Probably will be more of a show bike when done. Going to get it powder coated fire engine red. Going with dual cylinder tanks. One on each side. One for gas and on for electrical..

KOOOOL!

I went to a thrift store and found some track lights.they are nice round ends on them and will take 2 and weld them end to end for tanks......................Curt

haha totally just went against what I said. I just went thrift shopping and found these and they just spoke to me sorrrryyyy.

The two copper containers are zoo cool. Wont have big badass double barrel tanks anymore but these are definitely more appropriate for the look. I have to move the petcock down. Roughly 75fl ounces of gas will fit so just over half gallon. Have that glass float bowl ready to go and I'm running all copper fuel lines. just need to figure out mounting and where! The coolest part about these which made me buy them is the glass visible tube that shows how much liquid (gas) is left in each! Old stuff is so rad

The big container is for electrical and already has mounting brackets on it so its just an easy bolt on job. Batteries for head light will go in there and maybe water bottle size of spare gas.


Curt never thought of that I have another build I'm doing and ill probably go that route for tank thanks!

What is your wheelbase NOW ?

New photos up! Naked the bike probably weighs 30 pounds with everything on it maybe 80-90 lbs.

So a a few changes to make tomorrow! the electrical cylinder is going to go on a tigged up rack over the rear fender instead of the side. To un-areodynamic! Next headlight will be a little lower on the front rod/ fork thing i made. Next the Copper gas tanks are in but i don't trust them 100 percent if they were full of gas. I made all components out of 14g sheet metal. My biggest problem is moving petcock down without damaging any of the copper. Also making a manifold and exhaust!!! So little time I have a 4 days left of use of the shop!

Slapped a tank together. My first tank ever impulsively with no plans and am not sure if I like it. Channeled the bottom to get a little extra volume. The copper tanks I was going to go with just didn't seem stable enough so i wanted an inframe tank. Those will be reservoirs for extra gas if I ever run out while riding. And they are detachable so i can lighten bike up for quick rides without the extra bulk

Would love some feed back on tank.. should i just go with it for now??

I think your tank came out nice. I think it has great shapes and is not over the top.http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001OK9YZM if that is a gc160 this piece fits and it can be turned in any direction before bolting down. I had a Briggs large cigar muffler welder on the end.

I might as well but another one and cut it at the mounting bracket and just weld a pipe and make a fitting for the 22mm mikuni

I didn't even think about that... I just checked and yes it slides right over carb. Mounting studs. I might use one too!
