Hey Ray where's the motor on your ski mobile? The "I'll try anything once " thing fits that picture perfectly.
Greg

That isn't mine. Just some random photo of some adventurous and creative guy on the internet. I sit my butt inside during the winter where it is warm and try to talk others into going outside and freezing theirs so I can watch their adventures from my cozy arm chair. LOL

I would have used 'down-hill' skis instead of 'cross-country'. They're built a little tougher.

I wonder if he can actually steer that thing. And what happens if the wood breaks. :(

The biggest thing that guys ski bike is missing is a motor. That thing sure looks like a lot of work to me, but I bet it would be fun with a little 2 smoker on it? Definitely be better with some wider skis I bet.

Instead of skis, here's an idea. A snowboard on the front. Makes more sense than trying to keep two skis together.
Sorry. I'm highjacking the thread.

I may take the camera on a test run in my old ford when I get it, will be kinda like riding a bike because the car doesn't have a heater. The heater option must of had been too expensive just like the radio that my wife's great grandmother had the dealer take out before she would buy it. Or she though that music in a car would be too distracting, what would someone from that era think of cell phone use and texting while driving?

Greg,
Keep us informed on how the new camera works. Heater or no, the view through the windshield should tell how it works. You could always hold it outside the window too. Just make sure the strap is around your wrist in case you drop it :)

Ray,
Intermission over. Back to our regularly scheduled program.

As far as I know it is not illegal to wear a helmet while driving a car so I may install the mount to the helmet and give it a try. Would be funny to get stopped wearing a helmet in a car that does not have seat belts! You see officer since the car doesn't have seat belts I decided to wear this helmet to be safe and add the camera in case I have a accident.

LOL, I'd add a fire suit. That way the helmet wouldn't look so out of place. Maybe one with a lot of sponsor names on it. Maybe the cop would be impressed and let you go. :)

"Son, I see you drive for Exxon. I guess you know your stuff. Ya'll have a good day, ya hear?"

Greg,
Can't help it. I invision a good-old-boy Valdosta sheriff's deputy with a big gut, mirrored sunglasses and a tall whip antenna on his Ford Crown Vic. Maybe I'm relying on a memory of a night coming back from Tallahassee and getting pulled over for speeding.
We weren't wearing helmets or fire suits, but he let us go when we told him we were pilots stationed at Moody Field. :)

I saw that movie forget the name, but Jackie Gleason was in and had been supposed to be filmed in Florida. The bubble dome Cop light on top was the era back then the way the cars looked.

MT

Checked it was Smokey and the Bandit

Smokey and the Bandit was filmed right here in Ga, I think about the movie every time I drive by the lake where the dog goes for a swim. A lot of the filming was done on highway 54 between Fayetteville and Stock bridge.

Camscam...

Above is a link to the controversy over the SJ5000 camera. I have a sinking feeling that my camera in a bottle drifting this way in the Pacific Ocean contains a cheap piece of non functioning junk which I will then need to return. "Camera must be return in shipping bottle with seaweed packing as original. Seat cork firmly and toss in Atlantic Ocean. Your payment will be returned promptly when it gets here. Thank you. We look forward to do business again!"

Or something like that. Maybe it will work great. And maybe there really is an Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, too. I'll find out for sure about the camera sometime NEXT MONTH.

=================

Did you get the camera? I have a video I used with the water proof housing windsurfing, see it at:

The extra batteries from the seller in New York fit my camera and charged up OK too.

As a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's....the ultimate car to own was Bandits Black Trans Am. So to my delight.... the first car I bought was a 77 Trans Am. However mine was red instead of black, but close enough to me to feel like Buford T Justice might be on my tail at any moment. Great movie and the 77 Trans Am was a fun car to own and drive. Wish I would have had a GoPro back then to mount on the dash looking out at the road and that cool shaker scoop.

Funny thing about Trans Ams. For some reason a lot of them ended up on blocks in front of mobile homes.

Don't see it much anymore but a few years ago it was a common sight.
Willy Nelson was a guest host on Saturday Night live. He even mentioned it in a scit. Another cast member, I think it was John Lovitz said, "Hey Willy, lets go take a ride in your Trans Am.
Willy replied, "Can't. It's up on blocks in front of my trailer."
