Nice work! After i cut the notches on the post i did some thread searching and found that you did the same, i really like the brace you added ill have to do that too. You said a guy sells the layback post? I wonder if its heavier dutier? Like you said it would leave a good mark if your lucky and not de nut your self haha.

This guy I'm talking about uses solid steel bar stock, Much Much more heavy duty than mine, he machines down the seat clamp area so the seat bolts up to them nicely, then he heats it up and bends it to your specs... Here's his ad thread http://motorbicycling.com/showthread.php?t=40669 and I think for the $18 he sells them for it's probably cheaper than we could buy the bar stock, machine it down, heat it up, bend it, and paint it so it's really a good deal and cheap nut insurance...

Yeah, after welding in the brace it reduced the flexing a lot but I can still feel it flexing over the bumps so that's pretty high on my "want to buy" list...

i fabbed a half inch peice of square steel welded to the seat post and welded a nut to the other side and bolted it to the frame.

Alright so today i fabbed up 1 engine mount and turned out pretty well, i still have to do thinking for the other mount.

I also welded my spigot onto my reed block, i was pretty happy that everything lined up in the end as well as it did. **** my exhaust pipe from my other bike is a damn near bolt on to this one! check it out!

Aright im getting only a couple steps away from running!

My new update is:

I Braced the head set real nice, i felt if im going at speeds of 50 mph i do not want the front of the bike falling apart due to crappy chinese welds, after i was done the only front end part to break off would be the forks them selves haha.

I also welded a peice of half inch squar bar by the crank just to make me feel better.

Last but not least i fabbed up the rear engine mount. i had to make a detachable style one that turned out perfect to my standards.

The only thing left is to get the exhaust mounted and find a fuel tank!

That exhaust looks sweet... Excellent fitment like it was built for that frame, I'm really liking the custom header flange too... Did you also port match your exhaust port to match the inside diameter of the pipe?

Yes nice work and I wish my welding was that neat.
It's a pity we are all so far apart, I have no one else even with a motorized bike in my area, and would love to be able to go for a good high speed run with a few of my peers on the forum here.
Keep up the good work.

Nope the exhaust is opening where the pipe bolts to the jug is bored larger than stock but if i where to bore the cylinder to fit the header there would be nothing for the flange to seal againts of that makes sence. So basically i have the flange port matched and is more like a rectangle shape.

And i hear ya man riders out here in michigan are non existant aswell. I think it would be cool too ride with some people on this forum unfortunetly every one is so far away.

No sir notch yet, i will post a video soon as it is running. I just got the gold chain today so im gonna cut that then make a spring tensioner tommarow and plan to attempt to start it tommarow.

If you don't mind I would like to make a suggestion?


Where that exhaust comes across the front down tube . We did one with that pipe and used strap steel and PDM membrane type rubber. Basically it is denser than inner tubing for a Bike tire. Old thorn proof tubing might be better?

Depends how well you craft the clamp

Get muffler clamps for small exhaust at Napa over here when we did it. Take your strap steel and carefully bend it to match the down tube. Mock the whole clamp in then tack weld it. Tack it to the pipe. Tack the pipe off. Last stitch weld it letting it cool down a bit as you go, so not to worp any thing or blow through your metel. Done!

The strap steel will be what meets up with your frame. Instead of those nasty gash marks a bare clamp would make to it self and to the pipe. You're resilient rubber will protect your frame and hold stuff permanent like.

Note this will great if the motor is solid too. Of course.

This will help tunning fork through the bike type vibrations. Last can add uni-body structure helping the engine etc to sit still where ya want it! uni-bodystructure always does add strength to any creation IMHO. It can also add weight lol. My favorite way to think of when I think of building structures. Wood work etc.

that actualy a great idea you have but sense i have a steel frame now, ill weld as much as i can too it as far as brackets n stuff goes

I like it. Looks nice with the front suspension... mine blow the engine again... the crank needle bearing is throwing particles third engine blow up to find that : (
