Request tester for tuned pipe

Sick Bike Parts is about to release a tuned pipe, "expansion chamber", for our little Chinese 2 strokes. We request some help in testing these both for performance and ease of installation. What we need is an individual that meets the following requirements.

Has a Chinese 2 stroke, 49cc to 69cc.
Has knowledge tuning 2 strokes, porting, jetting carbs, reading plugs etc.
Has the ability to measure speed and time.
Has the appropriate mechanical skills and tools, dremel etc to correctly install the pipe.

67cc=69cc=70cc=80cc are all the same pipe.

We only dream when we are awake. At night we are so tired we pass out cold. Well at least I do.

Are you making two size pipes one for the 48cc and one for the 66cc?

Nope, same pipe. In theory may be better to have a pipe for each, but it works very well on both. IOW, I can't see going larger for a 69cc or going smaller for a 49 cc.

The reason I specified 49 to 69 cc is that is all there is folks. Yes there is some in between but there are no 80's. We have already tried them on 49cc and 69cc engines and a little tweek of the header length and it works well on both so I imagine it will work for the 55cc or something in between. We mostly want feed back on performance gains and if there are any installation issues.

I would love to throw my card in the hat for this one, but I don't currently have a running bike. Good job guys, these engines really need a good tuned pipe. If they're affordable you'll do well with this project.

I would like to test your pipe, but I don't have huge knowledge on jetting etc.. I know what the plug is supposed to look like and I know what to change depends what it looks like. I have mechanical skills, tools, and a Dremel. Is that enough??

Ghosto, I don't think it's a matter of not having interest. I think those like myself are very interested, it's just that we may not feel competent enough to give you what you want in the way of an evaluation.
Why not just offer the first ten kits at cost and let the users post thoughts. I know I would order one.
I think your jackshaft is so popular because of what we read on here from users.

Well, I ain't gonna beg you for one to test!

But it is winter here and in many other parts of the country....not much riding going on in those (these) places.

Also, these engines as I am sure you are aware of an not exactly high performance engines, and many will not see a huge gain in power before they vibrate so badly that the gain would be unusable.


Just my thoughts on the subject.

i would be glad to test one i just don't have a shop. I do have a broke in motor with a speedo as well as a bigger carb to change out and check the performance differences. and would be willing to get any adjustments done and report the findings i ride everyday here in fl and have built race cars for years and can seance rpm and hp ranges. i am also very familiar with "tuning" imports cars which i am sure would be similar.

As a prospective buyer standpoint. What you are offering
is no doubt a better product but untill style and blending in
with the bike and an attitude look is accomplished, I will pass.

With what little bit of changes you can do on these engines, and through the whole tune up outta wack, putting the pipe on would really test our tuneing skills....But it sure looks like a sweeet pipe,WITH a muffler/stinger....

I wouldn't be too concerned about a lack of interest right now...as Joe pointed out, most of the country is having foul weather this week. Just getting to work is enough to think about! In a few months people will be riding again.

In the mean time I would post your own findings. A good pipe will make a huge difference in these engines without a lot of additional tuning. The bottom-end torque is really lacking. Take the time now during the lull, to maximize the products' potential to help the engine make torque from 3000-5000 RPM. Then make a tuners guide for these engines based on your pipe. The guide will add enormous value to the product! The price is right, so the product will do fine. It just takes time to gain acceptance with any new product.

I know how discouraging it can be to work hard on a project and get a luke-warm reception...it's happened to me many times, and then BLAM it catches on and you find you're scrambling to keep your head above water. You just have to keep pluggin'

Honestly that is going to be an amazing price. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys sell out of them almost immediately.

I think it's actually a really good idea to have an independent 3rd party test out the install and performance. This really helps connect the product with the public I think.
