make your own race fuel cheap!
if your into racing or just want a sweet fully modded motor then your like most of us and run some kind of high comp head, if your realy into it and want the absoloute most you can get then your like me and are running 13:1 comp !!!! and regular 93 octaine will not cut it !!!! you may get away with it for a wile but rest assure your damaging your motor !!!
13:1 comp needs 100octaine to run its best, 13:1 comp motor can have a dynamic comp of almost 14:1 when running in the power band with a properly tunned exhaust ! even 12:1 comp with a good tunned exhaust and large ports can push 13:1 dynamic comp !
now most of us dont have acsess to race fuel and almost all octaine boosters on the market are a freakin joke ! it says they raise octaine by 8 points ! wow you went from 93 oct to 93.8 oct woop di doo !!! you wasted 6 bucks LOL
i know that at 13:1 comp i can barley get away with 93 octane ! i get detonation and high rpm backfires and misses. the spark advances too far for the 93 octane rating at high rpms with that comp ratio, i will only run 93 if i am going to the store ... slowly ...to get some race fuel or diy octane booster and cylinder lube and oil !!!
this is what you do
1 go get 3 gallons of 93 octain gas
2 go to hardware or paint store and get a 1 gallon can of xylene or toluene... those 2 chemicals have been used as fuels in drag racing for decades and they are the most common ingreediants in regular pump gas and even in off the shelf octaine booster !!!!
xylene is 117 octaine and toluene is 114 octaine
3 now mix it with your 93 octaine to the desired ratio, but do not use more than 30% here is the ratio to mix it...
Xylene
R+M/2...117
Mixtures with 93 Octane Premium
10%...95.4 Octane
20%...97.8 Octane
30%...100.2 Octane
mix the gallon of xylene with the 3 gallons of 93 octaine, you now have 100.2 octane gas !
4 mix the entire 4 gallons of 100 oct race gas with 13oz of good synthetic 2 stroke oil, you now have 4 gallons of 40:1 mixed 100.2 octane
5 now mix in 2.5 to 3 oz of lucas oil upper cylinder lube to make 4 gallons of 32:1 to 35:1 100.2 octane race fuel !!!
people have used mixes just like this in super high comp karts for years at the track. i have personaly seen people mix it at ratios of 1:1 or 50/50 or even more yealding near 110 octane !
some drag cars run on 85% xylene !!!
so for those of you who would like to run a high comp head and a decked down jug for 12:1 or 13:1 comp with a 6cc or 5cc head but cant find the fuel in your nieborhood... try this out !!!! it works !
i personaly run this myself and have no problems at all ! my motor actually cleaned up its throttle responce and reve's out higher and quicker with no sign of detonation ! my piston is clean and i never over heat ! plug chops are all good and at 40 to1 with upper cylinder lube mixed 32 to 1 i know i have proper lubrication even at super high rpms ! i hit 30-35 mph regularly and maintain that speed for extended times with a 26in tire and a 44 tooth rear ! thats 7,500 to 8,000 rpms ! and my motor is just dandy with it !
