Predyno 99cc......the ultimate daily cruiser!

Well I did a little work on the bike today, before a lengthy group ride tomorrow. I was getting a bit tired of the valves floating at around 6,200rpm with the lower gearing I've been running lately so I replaced the stock 99cc valve springs with some old 18lb. springs I used to run in my 212cc Pred......problem solved.

I also decided to gear it taller from 12:1 gear ratio to 10.40:1 just for kicks. Runs great, was hitting 48mph on my way to and back from work today on a modest downhill section and cruising at 40mph easily on the flats. I love this bike!

What ratio will you be running on the 99 cc at the 1/4 mile oval?

What is your overall gear ratio on your 212 cc?

Dave is building a 200cc and would like to get some info from you
on what ratios you were running at the last race?

Huh? My 99cc is NOT a race bike by any means and I see no other 99cc or 79cc bikes that want to compete as well so far.

My current overall gear ratio on the 212cc is 10.40:1 which gets me 54.9mph @ 8,000rpm.

Well then speaking of gear ratios.....changing some gearing here, but not the ratios I was running originally on this bike. Also decided to do some performance mods since they became available. This is still my commuter bike and I don't consider it a race bike, however, I do plan on racing this bike at the next Grange race to drum up some competition and to show Bigboy cycles what a soon to be hopped-up 99cc Predator runs like, compared to the stock one they raced against at the first Grange race this year. Yes that's right.....it won't be so stock this time around, have a peek....











And for the record (whatever) this engine will go from approximately 3-3.5HP, to a whopping 5HP......look out! My 212cc is already shakin' like a leaf in fear of this monster lol.

Hey Curt, the clamps that hold the engine plate to the seat tube have a fiberglass/resin composite sleeve, then and aluminum sleeve that are sandwiched to the seat tube. So fiberglass is in contact to the steel Dyno frame there. The front mounting clamp is straight aluminum to steel frame. Tight tolerances on all clamps.

Got a fair bit done on my cruiser today, tore down the engine and installed some new goodies. This engine has just over 50 hours on it and really looks good inside. Here are some pics for the day.....

Since you sleeved the two engine mounts on the seatpost but not the one on the downtube, it sounds like all three engine mounts are 1.5" clamps? What's the source, or are they custom? They seem stout; I like the fact that your clamps are using much larger fasteners than the roll cage clamps I currently have.

Seeing cool azz bikes like yours... I look at my grubby skyhawk frame and kit combo thinking wow... This is living.. but now only if i now could hook up a bike like Scotto and friends... Then id really be living... Thanks for sharing the hobby unto others..

Well thank you Burning Napalm 4 fuel for following this thread......a real good reason and the thing I like most by posting my builds is just to inspire others to do the same and get good results with a reliable build. I enjoy building bikes that perform well and are pleasing to the eye.....at least my eyes anyway

Keep on building, they just get better and better as you learn more.

I didn't really sleeve as that was part of those mounts......all I had to do to is cut the fiberglass/aluminum tubing that were integral parts of the clamps to make them work, ie. cut the tubes into two halves to sleeve the frame.

It's hard too explain, but if you look at all the pics during that stage of the build, you'll see what I mean. And yes they are custom mounts that were not intended for this application and aren't available as far as I know.....sorry.

Yes buba, very much like rice crispies........snap, crackle and emphasis on the POP! Roars a bit like Tony the tiger now.......it's GRRREAT!

Had the day off today and did a lot of riding with the new performance parts installed and I must say......

This bike has got some get up and go now.......43.5mph @ 6,800rpm with much better acceleration at any speed. My ultimate commuter bike is frisky as all heyell! So much fun to ride.

One is quite obvious in these pics I took today and the rest hiding beneath the plain exterior. Heavier valve springs, a billet rod, a billet flywheel and ???

The little Dyno cruiser is ready to battle the big, bad race bikes at Grange in a couple weeks. In the meantime, I'll be riding it to work everyday.......
