So realizing that I clamped my gear shifters cable when I clamped down my gas tank I now have to figure out a way to stop it from clamping... Any suggestions?

The cable clamps wont work, The cables are being squashed but the actual tank on the top of the bar like this...

Raise the tank a few millimeters.

Do so by getting using spacers between tank and frame, and extending nuts and 1" metric studs (or make some by cutting off the heads of metric bolts).

Orrr, you could also use two 4" x 3/4" (approximately) metal plates and four additional nuts and bolts to "sandwich" clamp the tank to the bar.

It's simple and easy. You can do it..bld.

Yeah I ended up going with more of a makeshift spacer, Wrapping duct tape around the bare then cutting a slit in the top of it for the cable to sit through then the tank just sits above the bar about 1cm and abit... Also stops it from scratching the frame :)

I slip chunks of cable housing over the section where the tank mounts.
Good excuse to adjust the brakes correctly too.
