No more bikes...ride for sanity.

Well, not really, and sorta....

I have four bikes in various stages of build, and was sidetracked by a series of "sidetrackers" like hitting a deer and totalling my truck, and assorted other life nasties.

I had to give back the "borrowed bike", and have nothing running right now so I took out old trusty ('02 Yamamaha scooter) and rode it a hundred miles yesterday in the 50s degree weather.

It was good for the soul.

I am posting this in the tavern since it's not about motorized bicycles, bicycle motors, kits, or bicycle engine kits. It's about the fine line between happy and not happy, easily fixed by a quick fix of two wheeled Prozac.

I think I'll add that to my re- read list. I read it after my Dad finished it in the 70's when it first came out.

That is Pymatuning Lake. It was a swamp for thousands of years then in the 30's the WPA Dammed up the end in Jamestown Pa. and it filled up. Then they built the looong causeway. Pymatuning state park has more visitors a year than all the other combined Ohio state parks! Great fishing for all kinds of stuff, and a 20 hp limit so no skiers or PWC-ers. Lot od small sailboats and amish with elecric trolling motors.

joe, im jellous. i live a the middle of the sf bay area and there arent really too many places where i can just cruise the country side and just enjoy scienery. amazing pics and wonderful post. i bet its just so freeing to just get out there and ride like that. here i have to dodge buses and play chicken with cars. :\

Speaking of countryside.... I'm gonna have to go for a nice long cruise once I get the new motor broken in (and put the bike back together - breaking it down for paint). It's nice to be 5 min away from farmland. or I can ride for 20min (10min drive) and get to some pretty foothills

MAN, AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH???!!!??? I know what you're saying....when my bike is primo and riding strong, I am feeling good....when it's not, I am down....I enjoy working on it, but riding it after its all good again feels 10 times better!....I have mine under construction now(had alot of problems) ..that scooter looks fun....im thinkin of picking up a motorcycle and/or scooter w/in a year or so for longer hauls than my MB; how is the scooter on main roads? How's acceleration and top speed?...just curious....

I hear that. My bike has been down for almost a month. I'm waiting on a new engine right now, and I'm starting to tear it down to work on it, just so I don't go nutty. I'm really hoping it'll do decently this winter (and I hope the roads are plowed well) so I don't have to go a long time without it. it's my main transportation...sharing a car with my wife is no fun (I got the bike so she could use the car). I'm also thinking of getting a motorcycle. I was going to get one after the holidays, but I might wait till spring/early summer instead. Would be good to learn to ride when the roads are decent.

This why the wife feels it's an addiction sometime. However, she whole heartedly supports it and encourages me to ride when I can. As long as I am home before it gets dark and I have my cell phone of course. Man I am lucky.

My wife was mad at me for buying it originally (just because of the timing), then she got madder when the mag died a day later (bought the bike/motor used). She's not so upset any more and she's fine with it...even though the motor blew up, lol.

Not sure when I'll get her to ride it (maybe she'll want one of her own). I even get to ride in the dark as long as I have lights

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones too. My wife, although she hasn't ridden it yet, wants me to enjoy my bike. She sends me to the grocery store for milk and bread. I come back with the milk and say, "Oh darn, I forgot the bread. I'll be right back." She laughs, I go for another mile ride, she gets her groceries, I get to burn some more fossil fuels and we're both happy. It was 39 degrees the other night and I rode to the store. When I got back I told her I knew what I wanted for Christmas..."A motorcycle jacket".

Haha, yeah it's cold when riding now. I have so many layers when I ride to work in the morning. 1 or 2 jackets, depending on the weather (1 thin windproof jacket, 1 thicker mc-looking jacket but it's not leather and was a cheapie), jeans covered by some wind-resistant pants, gloves (was 2 pair, but now I got some good gloves), a clava, ear muffs, and an arctic beanie.

And that was a month ago. Can't wait till the snow hits. (Where the heck is it, anyway?)

What ever it takes to make sure you stay warm. It's cold for me here but it hasn't gotten below 60F. I love Southern Ca.
