Hello all!!!
I have been scanning the web for a cheap front rack that can take some weight (like a box that a HT-kit comes in, 10,4 kilograms at least) but I have still not found a suitable alternative, mostly the price is way to high...

Something like this is what I'm looking for... but €80 ($107) for a rack...? No way...

Do you know a good rack? Or do you know an easy way to make your own?

Sorry I don't know anything about front racks but I'm sure you have given thought to a trailer. They will carry a heck of a lot of weight. They also add stability to the bike instead of making it wonkie.

Yes I know, that would be the best alternative but in my case I need something smaller due to limited space...

Look for a front rack that came on Schwinn bikes in the 1960's. U.S. made by Wald, they are very sturdy. I adapt them to use as rear racks. These would easily hold the weight you're talking about. These usually came with a spring loaded clamp for holding down school books and that sort of thing. I use a rotary tool to remove the spring clamp if I don't want it there.

I've been looking around for one of those, too.
Found this:

Thanks for the tip! But I need a wider rack as in the pic in my first post. I find alot of these modern narrow and sporty racks but not the wide heavy duty I´m in for.

These racks were very common before I came to the world and it makes me think: "What happened ?"

Heres a link to one rack, looks are good but lousy mounting and also overpriced, this will be my last option: http://www.oskarfalk.se/photoblog/picts/photos/20080827_bike1.jpg

Thanks, Mekano
