So the first couple weeks I had my bike I sorta liked it when random people would ask me about my bike. Where did you get it ? Did you build it ? How much ? How fast ? MPG ? Could you make me one ? Can I ride it ? Is it legal ?

After 2 months of owning a motorized bicycle people are starting to PISS ME OFF ! :)

I almost dread riding it to a store cause I know when I come out there will be a group of people standing around my bike and they all have the same questions. I am not a rude person but I think I am about to become one. It came to a head yesterday when I popped down to the store , came outside and this dude was sitting on my bike playing with the controls. WTF R U DOING ?!?! I yelled rather loudly. The gawkers looked at me like I was crazy. The guy on my bike just started stuttering and I heard a sorry in there somewhere. Man I was pissed.

Am I alone on this ?

Aww I so posted this in the wrong section......

:(

Thread moved & mebbe this could help? http://motorbicycling.com/f15/bike-cards-12390.html ;)

O'course sitting on the bike is ridiculous, it's happened to me a couple of times and it really does irritate the heck outa me... but so far they've all been just happy kids so other than pointing out that such is not the best idea, even somewhat dangerous (who knows what kinda POed creepy freak owns that bike lol), I kinda just take it as the complement it really is and try and shrug it off...

I suppose it could be really baaad news in the early AM while I'm stopping for cawfee and perhaps less than impressed w/being awake at all... but fortunately that's not happened yet :D

never had it happen with my mb's but it happened a lot with my cars, heres a pic of a car i sold about 5 years ago, 96 buick. i was getting gas, when i came out of the station there were a bunch of people around the car, one guy was leaning on it and telling everyone all about the car like it was his. i joined the crowd and listened for a bit. then walked up and said you mind getting off my car, got in and drove away.

lol, that's hilarious Cam, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... for some reason.

That's a great idea about the cards Barely! I'm thinking one on the gas tank(or somewhere) too would lower the crowding.

I was getting a little sic of the questions too until I took my human powered bike for a ride. I actually missed people checking me (well, the bike; lets be honest) out while stopped at the Beer store.

Hey root, you could get a motion alarm, that'll keep'em off :D I found one on Ebay for $6.

I'm starting to get irritated with these people as well. I've been riding for 4 months and every week some guy will feel like asking me every question under the sun, now if it were girls that were so curious I wouldnt mind :D

I don't have a problem answering questions about the bikes. However I caught some kid trying to steal it. He seemed like the kind of kid who wouldn't learn even if I beat the **** out of him, so I more or less just gave him a quick lecture, and rode off.

i don't mind talking to people most of the time, unless my burgers are getting cold or my beers getting warm when i come out of a store, but what i always run into are the tweakers and the handicapped. i can tolerate the mentally challenged, but the spun-out junkies are a real pain...

I don't mind the looks but I had this one guy run up to me at my place and start asking all the usual questions so I gave him all the info on buying a kit and if he needed any help I would help him out,so he comes by a few days later and tells me it's too expensive,I told him from the start how much he would have to spend then a few days later he sees me walking down the road and says to me where's your bike I told him a part broke then he says "I figured that was the problem with those things"what do you think engines never break!geez.

The first few years I rode a motor assisted bicycle (back in 2004) I used to get stopped all the time. Always with a hundred questions about my bike.

After a while it did start to annoy me when I was in a rush or had someplace to be. I then made some business cards so I could just hand it out to people instead of answering all there questions.

But now, motor assisted bicycle are so common in Tucson I have not been stopped or bothered in a very long time. I kinda miss it...

I get tired of it sometimes. I've been riding mine for 2 years now. At first it was kinda flattering, someone likes the bike I've spent all this time on! Now it's just .. Oh god, another person talking to me about it... Usually I don't mind, but there are three times I do mind.
1. When I'm stopping for a warm beverage on my way to work. I'm still mostly asleep, I want my drink, I want to continue on riding. Leave me alone
2. I'm on my way home from work, stopping at the store for something to eat for dinner. I'm tired, hungry, probably a little bit annoyed about work. Leave me alone.
3. And this one really annoys me... When someone sees me riding my pedal bike around. I always get the "oh, did your motor bike break down? Geez, I see you all the time on your pedal bike that thing must be so unreliable"
I actually like just riding my pedal bike!!! It usually isn't because something is wrong with the MB, if the MB is broken and I don't want to pedal I have two cars. But people see me on the MB then can't conceive I actually like pedaling around too.

And maybe another one... It's raining, I'm at the gas station on my way home from work, I'm pissed off, wet, have a long ride home, and someone starts shooting the breeze with me. I don't want to talk to them, I just want my gas and want to get home.

I think alot has to do with what kind of town you're in. I live near San Diego, if I ride my bike down by the beach I get endless attention, usually all good. Closer to home (Rancho Bernardo) which is a rather snootie part of town I get almost no attention. Though one day I dropped by a local bicycle shop and parked my bike out front. When I left the store there was one guy checking out my bike. He never said a word but he did point to the hole in my seat then walked away....

But I have to say the people who annoy me the most are the ones who yell out "that's cheating". On a recent group ride we passed a woman who yelled out "that's cheating" in a not friendly manner at all. We passed her again not long after we had made a quick beer stop. Once again she yelled out "THAT'S CHEATING" with a quite angry face. Couldn't help but notice her huge butt and couldn't help but yell back "we're not the ones trying to work off all those cheeseburgers". Lord that was wrong, and bless all the poor starving pygmies in New Guinea...

Aww Davey, you just need a hotter ride(louder pipe) man!

Yea Chris, I agree, Don't mess with me before I get my coffee in me!

Where's Root? Must've got stopped by another crowd... poor guy, hopefully one of them is cute and looking for a hookup!

edit- Lol Max, no wonder we can't get a decent cheeseburger in Canada, I wish you had a pic of her face, heh heh. Although that pic would only look like you stole her milkshake, lmao...

Edit2- Rac, once you're running again, he'll be the one walking constantly, tell him to put that in his pipe and smoke it!

Must be living on the wrong side of the country, but at lest you got the north part right but s____ the bed on the east west part.
Yeah the thats cheating thing bugs me , when its a person that only rides from downtown to where they parked the car / suv with a bike rack and you have like a hr more riding to do!

I do have to admit tho mostly the only people that "*****" about the cheating on a bike tend to be quite overweight women in my experience.
Oh and the older "Harley " crowd sporting the big boilers ,and or tavern tumors!

Srsly, the only burgers I can get are Shice and/or are from the fast-fooders, any decent shops get shut down because nobody wants a burger in a fish town. Perch dinners are the Reg around here, which totally rocks. But anyway, **** those fat ****ers wishing they had one, but spend all their money on food!

If I could only convince the fatties there's some exercise involved in riding one motorized. Like pedalling off the start for 2.5s... :D

I forgot to mention, I got a comment today about what happened to my bike ... I didn't want to admit that I blew up the engine again ... heh. For the second time I've had a ring retainer pin thing come loose and eat the top end. Growl. Maybe this time I can get away with just cylinder and rings... I'm annoyed of this happening though.
