Air in Gas Filter

Air in Gas Filter

I changed my gas filter but now the new on has air in it,

Will this cause problem?

And if so how do I remove the air?

Hmmm...normally the air would work itself out...pull your fuel line off from the carb, hold fuel line down toward's the ground, open the fuel till fuel pours out...put your finger over fuel line then shut fuel off and remount hose to carb.

They only time I had problems with air in the filter is when I used to big of a fuel filter.

I just changed it and only tested it for a couple of miles I will wait and see if the air works itself out first. Thanks for the quick reply.
 
Oh... I was just looking at your pic again...look at the filter...the outlet is higher then the inlet... you need to get it pointed down a little more somehow there.. that will help alot.

Mine always has air first think in the morning
and the bike always runs fine

I think it has to do with the gas leaking out of the line over night and air filling in. the filter is below the cutoff.

Indeed. Nothing to worry about at all. Mine has way more air than that. The filter is huge relative to the about of fuel that needs to flow. All you need is a tiny trickle of fuel to keep the bowl full, I'll bet in the 3rd world countries the intank filter is 90% clogged and the owners aren't even aware of it.

BUT I agree with BGJ - looks like gravity feed may be a problem.
