Chinese Engines Are Worthless

Anyone other than Herdan who sells Morini engines? They don't want to sell to Canada or take our credit cards.

Steve.

I posted this on another thread;

"I divided 6000 miles by 15 MPH, my average speed on a 2 smoke and came up with 400 hrs of ride time. At $150, 2.6666 cents an hour and at $3 a gallon great bang for the buck. My math skills are always suspect though and didn't know how to work out gas. Keep coming up with 9cents an hour. 13 cents an hour total? wow, these things are better then I thought!)

Can ya help a brother out?"

Not gonna hurt my feelings a bit if some one corrects my math. lol

Yes that's true, exept if you are one of the unluck ones that gets an engine that dies within 200 miles. From what I have heard it happens all the time.

I have also heard that there are 2 main causes. An unbalanced crank shaft, and air leaking at the carb causeing a lean condition that wrecks the engine.

Never had it happen myself, but am sure it does. Good reason to buy from reputable dealers with a warranty.

Call Dean at Pipelyne in CA call 9am Pacific Time Tell him your situation so he doesn't have it dropped shipped from Herdan. Will probably cost you a bit more for shipping this way. 4 0 8 2 7 9 2 3 0 7
Gene

If you are buying the S6 T get the 4 reed body installed. 5.8 hp +
He will probably move you away from a S6 S 9.5hp take his advice on this he knows what he is doing. He can explain it to you.
of course there is always the 3 hp S6 E which is a fine little motor.

Gene,Thank you. There seems to be a general fear of shipping to Canada. Maybe the're afraid it gets here by dog team.
I'm going to have to go with a small motor since the limit is 49cc. Since I will have to list it as a motor bike they will go over it with a fine tooth comb before they give me a vin number.
Insurance is run by the Province so they have a pretty firm grip on it. I'll talk to them today and see just what is needed.
Thanks for the help.

Steve.

Gene are they heavily marked or is it the China Girl for the inspection and the real motor when you get home?

Steve.

Gene,I'm sorry. I knew what I meant.
Is the size stamped in or just a label that is stuck on and I can peel it off.

Steve.

My Motor is at Creative Engineering We can ask Jim later what is actually on the motor or you can call Dean at pipelyne Maybe someone else here can answer that . You have to be under 50 or 49? Because if its under 50 you are good

Ive read alot about happy times motors and when it came time to buy a kit I decided against them. Im the type where I like to work on stuff but not because of stupidity in the product. All kits are just that and need adjustments and tinkering to get them to work. My current kit is a Dimension edge friction drive and it works flawlessly but it does have its limitations in wet weather but IT WORKS ALL THE TIME WHEN I NEED IT. Im not against cheap or chinese, my next bike will probably have the titan 50cc motor on it. Ive heard nothing but good things about the titan so mabye. Every one is different and has different needs and wants but for me the happy times motor just isnt it. No right or wrong it just isnt for me. I love the looks on peoples faces when they see me riding a motorized bicycle and I love riding them. Im 48 and for the rest of my life Ill always have one at least to cruise on..........anyways im just rambling but hey we all have something in common and I enjoy being apart of this community.

Balancing The Crank?

I don't know about it, but the Manic Mechanic has a section about balance and as I recall says you cannot balance a single cylinder crankshaft?

MANIC Mechanic Parts.htm

He has a pretty high tech graphic there showing why he believes it to be true. All I know is I will take his word for it.

h

I am curently haveing alot of the same problems, but i have not givein up yet, The next thing i want to do is pull the crank and try to balance it. does anyone know a good way of getting the crank out? i have the case split but the crank will not come free of either side. Should i try taping with a hammer? am i missing a retaining clip hidden on the crank? sorry i do not mean to jack your thread.

Even hondas and kawis that are single cyclinders are known as thumpers because of the vibration. My most recent m/c purchase was a klr 650 thumper and it has twice the vibration of a twin or more cylinders. I dont know the science behind the reason but single cylinder motors just have it.

Re: Chinese Engines Are Worthless and run rough!

Nothing we would use, but 4 and 6 cylinder engines also have a balance problem. Many have the timing chain rotating counter weights to balance them.

Jim

hm. ill stick by the happytimes.... usually the stupid failures get warrentied and replaced.... if your the stupid and dont know what your doing then you better find this forum.... lol
