Cvt Rack Mount

I Have Been Thinking About This Build For A While. Already Have Changes-improvements Planed. Very Happy With The Performance. IT HAS THE VARIABLE BELT DRIVE IN THE TRANSMISSION. STARTS OUT IN LOW RATIO AND SHIFTS UP. 49cc Pocket Motor, It Cruises About 28mph With 240 Lb Rider. I MAY HAVE TO GEAR IT LOWER WITH THE SPROCKETS TO HAVE MORE TORQUE ON THE TOP END. As The Gear Ratio Changes With Speed The Motor Is Quiet. Waiting For Custom Left Hand Thread Die To Run Free Wheel Sprocket On Left Side, Then Reverse To Left Side Pedal Power (change Crankset Sprockets To Left Side). My Next Build I Will Use A 3.25 Ratio Chain Transmission And Drive Wheel From Left Side With A Free Wheel Set Up Also. (will Not Have To Do Any Changes To Pedal System). The Belt Cvt Has A 3.75 Ratio Gear Box Incorporated And Reverses Out Put Power Rotation. That Is The Reason For The Rite Side Motor Drive. THE BIKE ON LEFT IS A FRICTION DRIVE WITH A 52CC BIG BORE KIT. IT HAS A DIFFERENT SOUND, WILL SWITCH IT TO A BELT CVT TRANS. THE GUY WITH NO FACE IS SON IN LAW. A GREAT HELPER (HE DOES ALL THE WORK HA HA). THE THREAD TITLE WAS TO LONG, MEANT TO BE FREE WHEEL DRIVEN SPROCKET. Ron .....cvlt1

Hey! Those bikes look familiar lol.

Looking Sweet NeatTimes dnut

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

WE REALLY LIKE THIS SET UP. DO NOT NEED TO PEDAL ASSIST WHEN STARTING. CAN`T ANYWAY, WITH NO CHAIN ATTACHED TO PEDALS. WILL HAVE PEDALING WHEN THE THREAD DIE GETS HERE. WITH THE FREE WHEEL ON REAR AXLE IT COASTS SO QUIET. COASTING DOWN HILLS AND GRADES IS NICE, BARELY ABLE TO HEAR ENGINE IDLE. MORE PICS WITH COVER OFF BELT SYSTEM ETC.. I HAVE A 4 WHEEL BICYCLE , WILL PUT ONE OF THIS TYPE SET UP ON. RON .wee. .. ..cvlt1

I am liking the exhaust Neat T, did you have to bend it to have it pointed down?

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

(^)Truly beautiful work Ron! I have dreams about using a CVT.

Where did you get them? The chrome looks awesome.

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Sweet I just noticed you are enjoying a full suspension bike. Cool work it really looks good too.dance1

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

very cool set up, my only complaint is you removed the pedal power so technically you have a moped not a pedal bike any more which may cause issue with certain local officials. They make engines with the shaft on left or right side, why did you choose one with a right shaft for a Bike ?

But you have given me a very good idea as I have two bikes that are similar to yours and my first thought was to make a pusher motor for them, but your idea is alot better for what I want other than removing the pedaling part of the bike.

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Hey Guys, Thanks For The Good Words. Commander, I Will Be Making The Bike To Left Side Pedal Drive, It Will Have A Freewheel Sprocket On The Axle. I Could Have Run A Jackshaft To The Left Side, But This Was Easier And Cleaner Imho. I Am Waiting For A Custom Thread Die To Arrive. That Freewheel Is Really Nice. When You Let Off On The Throttle And Coast The Engine Idles. I Will Post Some More Pictures, I Have To Resize Them First. Commander, I Have A Chain Drive Transmission Build In Mind. It Will Look The Same But Drive The Left Side. The Belt Drive Has A Gearbox And Reverses The Rotation. The Ht Kit With Pull Start And A Freewheel Would Be Nice. Ron

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Lookin' forward to more pics Ron. Could you do a detailed post on adding the freewheel? Would really like to see how thats done.

Have you been following some of the Russian threads? The bike chain is on the left. really funky looking. I searched for one in the U.S., but found none.

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

No tbad neat, sounds like you know what you are doing, I'm looking forward to more of your pics

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Guys, I Am Still Trying To Dn Size Pics With Picaso 3. I Used It For The Pics On This Thread. I Seem To Have Run Into A Brick Wall!! (or Mental Block Wall! Lol). I Will Keep Trying. Like I Always Say: If You Don`t Suceed At First, To H*** With It. My Son In Law Can`t Stay Off Of It!! Lol. That Free Wheel On The Rear Axle Is The Way To Go. I Have To Be Up Early For Work. I Will Post Several Pics Of The Build Asap. Glad There Is Some Interest. Ron

Very cool Ron. I had missed the reduction box after the CVT.

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

DWAYNE (DAX), THANK YOU SIR! I TAKE THAT AS AN ULTIMATE COMPLIMENT COMING FROM A BUILDER AND A DEALER. I THINK YOUR RACK 4 STROKE IS GREAT. I SENT ONE OF THE SPROCKETS TO FAIRRACING THAT YOU SHIPPED ME, THANKS AGAIN. IT WORKED SO GOOD, HE CRASHED IN THE HOT LAPS. HE IS STILL HURTING, BUT WANTS A BIGGER ENGINE!! HE DOES A LOT FOR ALL OF US. I WISH I COULD FIND A PLACE TO BUY 1/2" PITCH SPROCKETS LIKE YOU HAVE ON THE 4 STROKE KITS. THANKS AGAIN DAX, YOU MADE MY DAY, AS SO MANY OTHERS HAVE ON THIS THREAD. RON dance1

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Its one sweet but complicated looking engine. I wish I had that kind of mechanical ability. Nice work...

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Dan, I Got 3 Of The Belt Drives With Engines Off Craigs List. He Sent Them From Clear Water, Fl. He Buys Random Lots Etc. Will Let Me Know If He Gets Anymore. THE CHROME IS PLASTIC OF COURSE! RON

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

Thanks Deacon, Its Not Very Complicated. I Bought A $7. Socket To Take The Cassete Of The Rear Hub And Screwed On A Freewheel Bearing With Sprocket Bolted To It. The Shifter Bikes With The Rear Derailer Are All The Same Unless They Cost Well Over $300. They All Have The 1 3/8" 24 Tpi Right Hand Thread. They Have A Left Hand Thread Freewheel For The Other Side. Boy Go Fast Sells The Hubs Threaded On Both Sides With The Left Hand Freewheel And Sprocket For The Ht Motors. Then Your Shifter Cassete Screws Onto The Right Side. Ron. PS DAX MAY HAVE THEM ALSO.

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

where can i find a small CVT like that? i would like to try to combine it with a 65cc china. i've looked around but i've only found larger minibike CVTs.

Re: Belt Drive Cvt Trans Rack Mount Chain Drive Free

I was thinking of having two chains, one going from the engine to a welded on sprocket on the clutch part of the CVT, and then another chain going to the sprocket on the wheel, probably to tricky for me to undertake right now, but it sure sounds nice.
