Has anyone used these engines? According to the Yamakoyo website, the Yamakoyo YK250Q and Yamakoyo YK400Q are replacements for the Honda GX120 engine. If so, there are performance parts available for the Honda GX120 and wonder if the parts are interchangeable. FYI, Yamakoyo does make Honda GX210 replacement parts.

I know the engine cost more than a Predator 79cc/99cc, but if you can add some performance parts, it might be a good base for a race engine.

Staton sells the Yamakoyo YK250Q with a 3/4" shaft that is rated 2.5hp. You can buy the Yamakoyo YK400Q from Yamakoyo directly. It is rated at 4.0hp and has a 3/4" shaft. The Honda GX120 is rated at 3.5hp.

The Yamakoyo YK400Q has the same bore and stroke as the Honda GX120.

The Yamakoyo YK250Q listed on the Yamakoyo and Staton sites has less horsepower and less displacement than the Honda GX120. The bore and stroke for the YK250Q is different than the Honda GX120, per the Yamakoyo website. Staton doesn't list the bore and stroke of the engine he sells.

The Yamakoyo YK400 is closest to the Honda GX120 and at $219.00 with free shipping is probably $100.00 cheaper than a Honda GX120.

Good info Chris, thanks for sharing. Personally I think I'll be sticking with the Preds as I've had good luck with them and they are cheaper in cost.

Hi BigBlue. The ykengines.com website says the YK250Q is 5/8'' crankshaft. The staton-inc website says 3/4'' crankshaft. Are they made in China? Thankyou.

Hi, it's me again. I remembered that I called the yamakoyo website one or two years ago and, if I remember correctly, they said the 80cc YK250Q engine is not available for california, and if I ordered that I would receive a 98cc engine that is a clone of the honda gx100. Maybe the gx100 clone is the engine with the 5/8 inch crankshaft, and the YK250Q is the 3/4 inch crankshaft as you stated. Thanks again.
