WOODRUFF MYSTERY

had to replace woodruff key ,clutch shaft.after repair motor no start,80cc motor ran FINE B4. spark , fuel , air , clutch works , all is good. WOODRUFF KEY SNAPPED , HAD 2 REPLACE IT...IS THE ONLY THING I DID. VERY CONFUSED , WHY NO START ...have been riding motorized bike 4 while , thought pretty knowledgeable of all workings untill now...HELP !

A quick guess from the hip, maybe you installed the magneto backwards.

no , I have spark, ...like I said , the only thing done was replace broken woodruff key . bike was almost at full throttle when woodruff key broke . anyway , after repair motor no start , just 2 confused !!!

the woodruff key , that goes in clutch shaft , behind clutch plate . it sheered while I riding . replaced it , now motor not start. It started and ran FINE B4 !

I've often seen folks try to replace that key, but have it slip out the back while fitting the clutch - this lets motor turn while plug is out for testing spark, but then won't turn the motor when plug is back in to start it. I've also seen a key come out and poke itself into the crank seal behind the small bevel gear and knock the seal loose.
