That's great, how you did that. I'd still watch out for woodpeckers, tho'.

That is too COOL! Very nice work!
Were you a little nervous putting a flame near that can?
Why did you choose a charcoal lighter fluid can?
I've welded several tanks through the years and always kringe at first strike!
Is the wood cover removable if the tank springs a leak? Kip.

The fitting is a pipe to hose fitting from the hardware store. The cap is a brass cap used to cap off a washing machine valve. I posted a thread on how I made it into a venting cap. Also from the hardware store.

why not just leave the wood bottom out and support the can with metal strips, any spilled gas would run out the bottom. I am working on a metal tank with wood veneer aides. I trying to some old oak wood floring if I can cut the strips thin enough. btw your tank looks great.

when i was a boatbuilder people made fuel tanks for boats out of plywood. The inside faces were sealed with epoxy. & glued together with thickened epoxy. worked fine.
Some of the fuel tank sealer products are epoxy eg. caswell.
Epoxy is not broken down by fuel.
