When do you change your fuel filter?

Can you guys please help me? I run my bike every day and I wanted to know when to change it.

I change mine when there are so many black paint chips from the gas tank in it that I can no longer see the filter, about every 250 miles so far.

I change it when theres not enough fuel flowing from the end of the line to feed the engine.
