Yes he did lol. I pulled it apart when I got home and sure enough, it goes from 5/8" shaft to 17mm. Luckily I measured the bearing outside diameter (they tap out pretty easy) and found that the OD is 1-3/8", a very standard bearing size. And finding 1-3/8" x 5/8" bearings is easy. So I'm in luck in that aspect.
I will be keeping one of the gears in between the bearing plate and driven pulley to keep it properly spaced out. It came with a #35 12t sprocket, and a #41 10t sprocket. Why not make the #35 gear into a spacer.
