What Kind of Drive for Mountain Bike with Rear Suspension

I am sure this is a bit of a newbie question, but I was wondering what kind of drive system would be used with a mountain bike with a rear suspension.

Friction drive has no resistance while pedaling, which would be good for me since I want to pedal only a lot of the time, but it seems like the engine would be a lot weight bouncing up and down with the wheel. Also the forward mount could be a problem.

It would think a chain drive to a engine mounted in the frame (over the pedals) would have trouble with the chain changing slack as the wheel went up and down, since the front sprocket would not be on the same axis as the suspension arm.

for in frame the best way is a SBP shift kit or custom jack shaft to put the drve into your peddle chain

if you had a rack like this you could mount an engine without chain slacking

Friction is fine with rear suspension when you ride on the street.
For dirt riding, use a chain driven rack mount kit.

Yes, there are but there are very few bikes with rear suspension
that they will fit.
Maybe a GT LS1 that has the shock behind the seat tube.

yes there are you will need a shift kit also if you want to run it with a suspension
