What is your sweet spot motorized bicycle speed ?

Today there was no one around so I took the opportunity to do some engine runs and test just how fast I wanted to go on my Schwinn Beach Cruiser Hybrid. In this case I have to admit that the China Girl was no where near maxing out at 31.2 kph and now I know that is faster than I want to go on a bicycle, in spite of my new MOT approved motorcycle helmetView attachment 105487View attachment 105488.

Davideo, I liked to get a jump on traffic going 25-35mph.

When they catch up, I go with the flow of city traffic.
There are times when I hop onto empty sidewalks to avoid fast cars, then cruise much slower.

So, I like 25-30mph cruising speed, when there are no cars around.

Max horsepower on an RS 35 is at 7000 rpm. I also have a bike which shifts 7 engine driven gears automatically. Therefore the speed varies if the rpm at full throttle drops below 6000 it down shifts to a lower gear; if it goes above 7500 rpm then it up shifts to a higher gear. This way the engine stays around 7000 rpm where max horsepower is. So sweet spot speed is between 11-28.8 mph depending on the terrain.

Thread on my mods coming soon.

5-7 HEAVEN, those are very good techniques and the 25-30 numbers are respectable but they sound a little beyond my comfort zone. I am sure you would agree when you see me in action.
