can anyone tell me what the Predator 99cc is a clone of ???
I am trying to do an air fliter upgrade and can't really tell what will work

ps,,,I have looked at AGK site and am just looking for more options ;)
 
This prolly won't help you Bill but you could say it's a clone of the Greyhound 79cc.

I was under the impression that they are all based on Honda GX engines. They look similar, but bore and strokes are all over the place.

GX100 = 56x40mm (has a vertical cylinder, but same bore and stroke as Pred 99cc)
GX120 = 60x42mm
GX160 = 68x45mm
GX200 = 68x54mm

Greyhound 79 = 52x38mm
Predator 99cc = 56x40mm
Predator 212 = 70x55mm

i was looking at the hondas today they look extremly simlar to the predators makes sense though to the HS is a honda clone so why not predator
 
The term "clone" is used loosely.........it just sounds better than a Chinese "copy". Certainly some are more clone-like than others.......don'tcha think?

I would have to say the 99cc is not a copy of the 79cc, as the heads are radically different. The 99cc resembles the Honda GX120 very closely. The 79cc has canted valves and different valve gear. Also the ignition on the 99cc is totally self contained, while the 79cc has the usual ignition box secondary to the coil. I agree the engines are similar but not copies.

I'm glad to hear that the Preddy 99cc is so close to the GX120. I have a head from a GXV120 and I've been thinking of putting the v-twin compressor pump I bought it for back on the shelf for a while till I get some experience.

If that head will fit a 99cc Preddy, it would put the exhaust and intake ports on the front and back of the engine instead of on the sides. The intake port passes through the pushrod tunnel and the exhaust port has the spark plug beside it.

Notice the word was resembles, this is from viewing pics of the GX, have no clue about fitment or not. I do have hands on the 99 and 79cc engines, this is what I was commenting on. The Predator head may be an exact or close copy but I cant say so.
 
On the gx series motors theres lots of variations on the same size series. The gx50 has at least 5 I know of. Different shaft diameters etc.
