Yeah, that may be a back up option, i have considered it. I want to use the stand so i can do it quickly and if i have nothing to hang it on, or if i need to do a repair in doors where i cant hang, etc. Its would be good to have more than one way, but i think this will work. I under estimated the mass and size of the previous stand i ordered. It will work perfectly at home, but carrying it would just be dumb. Hopefully i won't have all that many flats, but i will be prepared if i do.

Have you ever seen the "cage" type stands that flip up over and lock to the rear fender? It wouldn't hold a front tire up, but used in conjunction with a center stand, it would. Barring a center you could block up with nearly anything at hand in a break down situation
