Tackling engine noise?

Engine: 80cc 2 stroke.

So my exhaust is done:

Now the db meter shows 101db coming out the tailpipe, while 105db is coming from the engine itself.

I plan to wrap the expansion pipe with header wrap, may take out some high end noise. Has anyone managed meaninful noise reduction without inviting overheating?

My 48cc screamed like a banshee at high RPM. I pulled off the clutch cover to polish it and lo and behold, no lube on the gears at all. Light coating of high moly grease and it is MUCH better. Try not to get any on the clutch though. That might be a bad thing.

Grease the gears. Add a layer of dense foam on the clutch cover. Use some rubber blocks between your cooling fins.
Get used to it.
