Hello i am new here,

I just built my first kit bike and was wondering what are the lengths of the bolts that go into the cylinder head?

I know they are 6mm studs being this is a 50cc and upon assembly i noticed that the head bolts feel squishy upon torquing the head so it would go to 12 ft pounds then back off to 10 ft lbs.....

I have got them to sit at exactly 12 to 12.5 ft lbs but i feel like they are going to snap off.

These bolts cant be as high quality as my friend claims and i would like to go to a local department store and pickup some new bolts due to them constantly loosening i keep loosing top speed cause they want to keep backing out it goes about 25mph.

Go to a hardware or auto parts store and get regular flat on both sides 6mm nuts and use one flat washer under each.

or more flat washers under the acorn nuts - but be sure to remember that 6mm studs only go to 6 to 8 ft/lb

I was under the impression that the 8mm studs were 12 foot pounds and the 6mm studs were around 6 -8 foot pounds? Larry

haha sould have read the post above mine. You may be slowly pulling the studs out of the aluminum case. Larry
