i was wondering cause i have seen both thick and narrow sprocket keys. info please?
since when? wich is used more? what size key do you have?

any info? thanks

The key sizes can be all over the place, most of my sprocket keys are the wider variety, but even then they vary a little. The tapper lock should hold the sprocket though, so I'm told.

That is INCORRECT Theon. You MUST use the key!
NEVER trust just the taper to lock that sprocket.
The key is mandatory and very important to a reliable engine. Spinning it will eat the shaft and is a pain to fix.

I didn't mean to not use a key, just that a perfect fitting key, to both parts, may not be nessessary, as I'm told.
I always take time to find the best fitting key out of a selection of about a dozen I have here, but thank you for pointing out how my post may have read.

You are dead right about the variation in sizes though....
might take awhile to find one that fits good and tight.
