The Curtiss V-8 motorcycle set an unofficial land speed record of 136.36 miles per hour (219.45 km/h) on January 24, 1907. The air-cooled F-head engine was developed for use in dirigibles.

Any idea who the rider was?

It's Glen Curtis I believe. Most of the photos I've seen of his run that is who was on the bike and he rode it on the speed run.

Steve.

I have been to a Glen Curtis museum and the motor and things he made was just wow for that day of age.
