Rounding the cooling fins

Just a question before I purchase an engine for my next build.

What if you took a standard Chinese 66cc engine and rounded the corners of the cooling fins off a bit with a belt sander so that the whole thing looked a little more round instead of square? how much can I take off before it adversely affects the engine's ability to cool it's self?

I'm going for that "vintage" look on this build and having a nice round looking cylinder would go a long way in achieving that.

Just don't go crazy with that belt sander. The amout of metal you're talking about should not adversely effect the cooling capability of the fins. I wouldn't take any off the flat sides but you will be alright just rounding the corners a bit to give it more of a circular profile.

Agreed. This is mine after performing a couple belt sanding sessions.
