rear engine chain mount 79cc thoughts ?

Hello,
new guy here. I restored 2 1980's Peugeot mopeds and have a Vespa ET50 but now I am interested in a motorbicycle. I have a tandem bike in the garage that is calling out for a predator engine. I have seen a few builds that put the motor in the rear frame area. My question is about trying a rear frame chain drive mount . I currently have a child seat mounted in the back and have had grandbabies in it that weigh more than an engine and have no control issues. anyone have any thoughts on the issue ?

thanks,
Scott

I have built a few rear mounted bikes one a 79cc HF engine another 98cc Lifan and found no issues other than having to get you leg up and over the engine getting on. May not be an issue with a tandem.

That and the center of gravity was not my thing. It raised the center of gravity of the entire bike,

I agree the CG is pretty high but you get used to it.

You will probably need a jackshaft as its on a tandem, a lower ratio would be good. Maybe a 16-20:1 depending on loading and hills if any. We have two tandems and I have been resisting powering one of them. There is one on YouTube the has a 212 cobbled into the frame.

yes. I saw that. Its quite a ride. I currently have a kid seat in the back so I am use to the weight back there. The cross bars are low so its easier to get the legs through. Thanks for the replies.
