What 2 stroke engine do you have?
The standard Chinese 2 stroke bicycle engine does not use any gear oil. Engine lubrication is from the oil mixed with the fuel. The clutch is dry and the only other lubrication needed is on the primary and secondary gears on the right side and the clutch actuating mechanism on the left. And of course the chain but that's true even with a 4 stroke.

It's those gears I'm worried about.
I can see the engine sprocket, and lubricate it with the chain, and understand that the piston/cylinder walls are lubricated by the gasoline mixture.
However, the gears seem to run dry? Is there a way to oil or grease them in?

Yeah,,
Just a little dab of red high temp grease between the two gears every once in a while. You might want to spray some brake cleaner or degreaser on them and get em nice and clean using a toothbrush,, after a few times the old grease will build up a dirty layer.Dont use to much it could cause clutch issues.

Exactly right. Follow this man's advice.

Don't over lubricate or you'll end up with a slipping clutch. A pea sized dab of grease spread over the teeth will suffice.
