Question about mounting the exhaust

Hey, I'm putting together my first engine kit in a couple days. I'm gonna try to put it on my 21" Schwinn, we'll see if I need a smaller sprocket. Anyway, can you mount the exhaust any way you want or is there a specific spot it in supposed to be mounted?
 
It should be pointed down. You might have to bend it a little bit if it wants to hit the frame's down tube.
 
and just dont let it hang there use the strap or the welds will crack on the flange from vib's
